| 1 :01x01 - Night of the Lizard (Nov/19/1994) | | Peter is offered a thousand-dollar bonus if he can manage to obtain an image of the Lizard, a humanoid lizard which has been roaming the sewers and has captured a sewer-worker. While investigating, he learns that the Lizard was once Dr. Curt Connors, Peter’s science teacher and friend. Dr. Connors was studying the power of neogenics, and came to the conclusion that when injected with the DNA of a reptile, then treated by the neogenic recombinator, one could recreate lost limbs, just as a reptile. Dr. Connors had lost his right arm while in the army, so he decided to be the first human to have the process tested on. It is a success, though he ends up transforming into a humanoid lizard, one which is bent on turning the rest of the human race into humanoid lizards as well. | | Guest Stars: Joseph Campanella as Dr. Curt Connors / The Lizard, Liz Georges (1) as Debora Whitman, Giselle Loren as Margaret Connors, Hank Azaria as Eddie Brock, Toby Scott Ganger as Billy Connors | | Writers: Stan Berkowitz, John Semper, Gerry Conway (1) | | | |

Peter is present at the time of the kidnapping, though he is helpless to stop Octavius without revealing his secret identity to the both of them. Peter tries to convince the authorities that a man with four mechanical arms is behind the kidnapping, though they laugh off his theory. However, Jameson believes Peter’s story and goes on live television telling Octavius to contact them, though when he does, Jameson loses control of himself and insults Octavius, convincing Octavius to have Jameson deliver the ransom. The man turns out to be Mac Gargan, a man who’s always being intimidated and insulted by others, who was hired by Jameson to find out how Peter always gets his photos of Spider-Man, believing they have some sort of a connection. Peter decides to become Spider-Man and convince Jameson that he can’t stand Peter, and in the process humiliates Mac Gargan, who now wants revenge. Jameson hires Dr. Farley Stillwell, the creator of neogenics, to enhance Mac Gargan’s strength and stamina so that he can defeat Spider-Man. Dr. Stillwell combines Mac Gargan’s DNA with that of a scorpion, as scorpions are natural predators of spiders, using the neogenic recombinator.
