Episode Notes

The "Spider Slayer" saga is an example of story arcs started in one season and not resolved until other season.

This story arc is later resolved in "The Ultimate Slayer."

The Spider-Slayer is modeled after a black widow spider, which has a deadly bite. They are recognized by the red hour glasses on their backs.

Episode Quotes

Spider-Man: (about the Spider-Slayers) This is enough to give me arachnophobia!

Mary Jane: Face it, tiger. You just hit the jackpot.

Spider-Man: (after landing in an outdoor restaurant while web-slinging) Didn't mean to drop in without a reservation.

Spider-Man: Blind dates are like the lottery. The odds are so stacked against you that you can't expect to ever hit the jackpot.

Episode References

Mary Jane: Face it, tiger. You just hit the jackpot.

When Mary Jane Watson appeared for the first time in The Amazing Spider-Man, she said this very quote when Peter opened the door at the end of the issue. This same scenario happens at the end of the episode. The plots are similar as well, as in the comics, Spider-Man tried to avoid meeting Mary Jane, just as he did in this episode.
