Spider-Man seeks help from Professor Xavier, as he believes that he possesses a cure for the mutagenic gene. He comes up empty handed, as Professor Xavier tries to help mutants accept their life as a mutant. Angry, Spider-Man rushes off, leaving Beast to feel empathy for him, who goes after him, informing him of Professor Herbert Landon’s assembly, in which he’ll explain his cure for mutants. Shortly after Spider-Man leaves, Beast is ambushed and taken prisoner as the test subject for Herbert Landon, whose agenda is not to cure mutants, but to destroy them.
Meanwhile, Wolverine uses his super-sense of smell to track down Beast to the location of his disappearance, when he smells Beast, Spider-Man, and “a bunch of men I’ve never smelled before”, leading him to believe that Spider-Man set up Beast. | There are no foreign summaries for this episode Contribute Here |

| Though the X-Men only appear in these two part episodes, Storm is to later appear alone in the Secret Wars saga. | On sydication, the ending theme uses only clips from parts one and two of this episode. | When Spider-Man goes into the Danger Room, he has to fight the deadly Sentinels. | The Hobgoblin makes his first appearance since "Hobgoblin (2)". | Herbert Landon, who becomes one of The Kingpin's biggest allies makes his debut in this episode. | We learn that X-Men and Spider-Man are in the same universe, even though they have distinctly different animators, which is mostly due to the fact that Spider-Man is somewhat animated with CGI, though X-Men isn't. | Also, on X-Men, characters have said "kill," "die," and had realistic looking guns that fire bullets. Along with punches to the face. None of those features were allowed on Spider-Man. | This episode ends in a cliffhanger in which Spider-Man and Wolverine are preparing for combat against one another. | The chemicals in the vat that Beast was hung in suspended animation above were designed to turn a mutant's mutant genes against one another. |

| Wolverine: Well, what do you know? Put out fly-paper, catch a spider. | Spider-Man: Great work, Spidey. Next time, use the front door. | Spider-Man: (imitating Storm) Power of web-shooters, get real sticky! | Spider-Man: It's always the same. I can save the world ten times over, but when I need help, I'm on my own. | Wolverine: Let him go, kid. He's too much of a loner.
Beast: Oh, I don't know. I found him somewhat reminiscent of you when you first crossed our doorstep. | Herbert Landon: Kingpin, are you spying on me?
The Kingpin: Of course. I like to keep a close eye on my investments. | Alistair: (referring to Herbert Landon) I don't trust him.
The Kingpin: You don't trust anyone.
Alistair: And I'm usually right. | Spider-Man: I've heard all I want to hear from you X-people. Excuse me. | Hobgoblin: What kind of fool do you take me for?
Spider-Man: Personally, I'd never call you a fool; that would be an insult to fools, everywhere. | Hobgoblin: (to Spider-Man) I didn't come here for you, but I'll gladly take a two-for-one! |

| Gambit's costume is blue instead of its usual black from the X-Men television series. |
Spider-Man's flashback to Dr. Connor's news about him mutating into something inhuman is completely different from how it occurred in "Battle of the Insidious Six (2)". Spider-Man wasn't lying on an observationalist table; he was crawling around on the walls, then sitting on Dr. Connor's desk. Also, some of the dialogue is paraphrased. | In the scene in which Spider-Man and Beast are conversing on the bridge, Spider-Man's dialogue is dubbed over Beast's at one point. |
