In an attempt to be the winner of a science contest in which the prize is to be Dr. Connor’s laboratory assistant in the field of neogenics, Michael Morbius begins using immoral ways to insure that he will be victorious. He breaks into Peter’s locker and steals a blood sample to use in his project. He then uses the neogenic recombinator on it, though a bat flies through the window and drinks the contaminated blood, and then bites Michael. The bite from the vampire gives Michael, now known as Morbius, the appearance of a humanoid bat, as well as the powers of flight and super-strength, though he also hungers for plasma.

|
| Morbius was not allowed to bite necks to drink blood, in the traditional way, as in the comics. The writers were forced to make him suck "plasma" from the victim through suckers on his hand. | This episode marks the first appearance of Morbius (as a vampire). |
