Spider-Man explains how he came to be the web-slinging hero that he is today to a girl named Taina. He tells her that he is no longer going to be Spider-Man, so he takes her on his last web-slinging adventure. But it is interupted by Doc Ock, who gives Spider-Man a knockout/ amesia-inducing gas.

Spider-Man never featured an origin until now because of the Spider-Man film that was supposed to premiere alongside this series. Because the movie never aired, they decided to add an origin for the show.

This episode marks the first appearance of Madame Web. Madame Web is voiced by Joan Lee, who is Stan Lee's wife in real life.

In this episode Maria says that Timmy said Spider-Man was sent to Earth in the last space shuttle from a dying planet. Spider-Man replies "I think Timmy has me confused with another superhero."

This is a reference to Superman, who was sent to Earth from the dying planet of Krypton in the last space shuttle, which is why the first episode of Superman: The Animated Series is called "The Last Son of Krypton."
