  Episode Summary
Jake's friendship with Nog comes to a crossroads when Nog asks Jake to lie for him. Chief O'Brien, subbing for his wife in her classroom, was the one who was lied to, and he suggests to Commander Sisko that it may be best for Jake and Nog to sever their friendship. Meanwhile, Quark is visited by the Grand Nagus, the most powerful of all Ferengi, and he's worried that the Nagus has come to buy his bar.

Grand Nagus Zek quotes Quark the sixth Ferengi Rule of Acquisition: Never allow family to stand in the way of opportunity.

  Episode Quotes
Benjamin: (on Nog being a bad influence for Jake) I appreciate the advice, Chief, but I trust my son...Besides, if I get between them now, it'll become me versus Nog and I'm not going to force Jake to choose between us.
Miles: Why not?
Benjamin: Because I'd probably lose.
Miles: (scoffs) I doubt that, sir.
Benjamin: That's because your daughter's three. (whispers) Wait until she's fourteen.

Quark: So, Rom....you were gonna toss me out an airlock.
Rom: Forgive me, brother.
Quark: Forgive you?! Why, brother...I didn't think you had the lobes. Such wonderful treachery deserves a reward. I'm going to make you the assistant manager of policy and clientele here at Quark's.
Rom: What exactly does that mean?
Quark: How should I know? I just made it up. Come on, I'll by you a drink.

  Cultural References
"The Nagus": The Godfather
The entire episode is a homage to the Francis Ford Copola 1972 film The Godfather, which is based on the Mario Puzo novel. The most obvious reference in the episode comes when Quark "receives" guests in his quarters.
