  Cultural References
"The Die is Cast": Julius Caesar
The episode title is a reference to a famous speech made by Julius Caesar, who, during the Roman Civil War, crossed the Rubicon River with his army to attack Rome. After crossing the river, he told his troops that, "The die is cast," meaning there is no turning back. The episode title echoes these words as the Romulans and Cardassian warships cross over to the Gamma Quadrant using the wormhole.
