Stardate 51825.4: Aboard the Runabout Shenandoah, Nog and Jake head to Ferenginar to deliver a diplomatic message to the Grand Nagus. Leaving from Starbase 257, they are attacked by a Jem'Hadar fleet on their way to the base. While the rest move on, one Jem'Hadar ship continues to attack the Shenandoah. Fortunately for the Nog and Jake, they are backed up by a sister ship of the Defiant, the Valiant, which is staffed by members of Starfleet Academy's Red Squadron.

Log Entry:
* Captain's Log, Stardate 51825.4 - We've been shadowing the Dominion battleship for three hours. The data our probe has gathered so far has not only been interesting, but it may have given us a golden opportunity to strike a blow for the Federation.

The original draft for this episode featured Kira instead of Nog being on the shuttle with Jake.

Tycho City: 2001: A Space Odyssey
While talking with Jake in the mess hall, Chief Petty Officer Collins mentions the lunar city of Tycho. The name comes from the lunar city on Earth's moon in the 1968 Stanley Kubrick film 2001: A Space Odyssey, which itself is based on the 1968 book of the same name by Sir Arthur C. Clarke.

Episode References
Red Squad: "Paradise Lost"
Red Squad was last seen infiltrating Earth's power grid and shutting it down to show the weakness of the Federation to an attack by the Dominion on its home planet in "Paradise Lost".
