Stardate 42402.7 While Enterprise is passing through a Star System that contains two inhabited planets which have a treaty that keeps a shaky peace in place, the crew receives a call from the cargo ship Erstwhile, saying it is in need of repairs. The Captain of the vessel is Thadiun Okona, a handsome scoundrel, who quickly makes a reputation for himself aboard the Enterprise. However, his reputation made on the two inhabited planets catches up with him. Now, both planets demand that he be turned over to them.

Log Entries:
*Captain's Log, Stardate 42402.7. We are traveling in the Omega Sagitta system, traversing between the twin planets that form the Coalition of Madena. Both worlds are populated by a humanoid race which colonized the planets two centuries ago and which now coexist under a precarious but successful treaty.
*Captain's Log, supplemental. Some of the mystery surrounding this ancient morality play we've been dragged into has been revealed. One of Captain Okona's pursuers is an outraged father with a heartfelt, if arcane, sense of righteousness.
| Two actors in this episode, William Campbell and Teri Hatcher, would both go on to substantial roles in the future -- William Campbell as the title character in the movie The Rocketeer, and as the male lead in the TV shows Moon Over Miami and Once and Again (among others), while Hatcher would have noted success as Lois Lane in Lois and Clark and again as one of the Desperate Housewives. Teri Hatcher also delivered the memorable line "They're Real, and They're Spectacular" on Seinfeld.
