Log Entries:
*Captain's log, Stardate 44614.6. We are approaching Starbase 313, where we will pick up a shipment of scientific equipment for transport to a Federation outpost in the Guernica system. During the journey, we will be hosting a special guest.
*Captain's log, supplemental. Since the newborn has attached itself to the hull, it has been making greater and greater demands on the ships energy. But we have been able to stabilize our power systems temporarily. |

Title: Galaxy's Child
The Enterprise has been defined as a Galaxy Class starship. The title is hence a play on that, melded with the English turn of phrase, "xxx's child", which relates to the effects of events, especially, but not limited to major ones, in one's life on one's outlook and personal development. Hence one may speak of a "child of war" as an adult who grew up in a time of war, or a "child of the depression" as someone who was affected by the grinding poverty and desperation felt by people in the Great Depression, which can have long term affects on one's attitudes and responses to later events in life. | We have seen Dr. Leah Brahms before, in the third season episode Booby Trap (03x06), albeit as a holodeck simulation of the real person. With this, we get to see the limits of the Enterprise AI's ability to extrapolate from known information about a person. | Geordi will relate the events of this episode in the sixth season episode Relics (06x04). The alien baby is, according to his tale, "about the size of a four-story building". |
