This is the first episode of the series to feature the early 2370s era Starfleet uniforms used during the first five seasons of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine and throughout Star Trek: Voyager. They would be seen for the second and final time in The Next Generation in the Season Seven episode "Firstborn".

James Cromwell , who played Jaglom Shrek (the alien who informed Worf regarding his father) is better known as Farmer Hoggett on the classic movie Babe. He's better known to Star Trek fans, however, for playing Zefram Cochrane on the Next Generation movie, First Contact.
