Pardon me for resurrecting a "dead thread," but I'm new here and just read the end of Fu's last post. First of all, Denise's guest roles, first in Yesterday's Enterprise
as alternate-time-line's Tasha Yar, then later as her Romulan daughter Sela, helped shake up the Federation almost as much as the Borg did. (The Borg were described in ST: First Contact
as "definitely not Swedish" - a nod to former tennis great Bjorn Borg; however, they did assimilate a Swedish girl named Anneka Hansen, renaming her Seven of Nine, before she was rescued years later by Voyager
Secondly, Fu's bringing Anne Robinson's trademark saying into a sci-fi thread reminded me of the 2005 Doctor Who
episode where the Doctor and Rose found them selves on the sets of futuristic versions of Big Brother
and The Weakest Link
respectively. In Rose's case, she dealt with what the captioner called an "Anne-Droid" (who herself in the next ep knocked off several invading Daleks before being beheaded by the next wave). It's a wonder that Frobinius Foss (or his estate if he's dead) didn't sue the BBC for reusing a character name of his infamous Star Wars
(ep. IV) satire Hardware Wars
, Leia-lookalike Princess Ann Droid...
Yes, I can hear your groans. Now I am the Weakest Link! Goodbye!
