After McKay discovers that a mist covering an alien planet can be used as a powerful energy source for the Stargate, the expedition is able to dial back to the SGC. Told that the Prometheus is being outfitted with Asgard hyperdrives capable of quickly returning them to the Pegasus Galaxy, members of the expedition return to Earth. However, their hopes of returning to Atlantis are shattered when they are informed that due to an accident aboard the Prometheus, they can't go back.

Now separated from Atlantis and stuck on Earth, the team finds strange changes in the things they see and encounter there; the friends and people they knew at the SGC are acting differently than expected.

Sheppard begins to suspect what is really going on, but how can he determine if he is correct?

Episode Quotes

Lt. Ford: I've never seen so much nothing.
Maj. Sheppard: And I've never walked so far to see it.

Dex: You shot me!
Maj. Sheppard: (still pointing the gun) You're already dead!
Lt. Ford: Sir, gimme...
Maj. Sheppard: I'm beginning to have my doubts about you too, Lieutenant. I wouldn't put them to a test. (takes a swig of beer) Now, somebody explain to me what the hell is going on here!

[After months away from his home on Earth]
Answering Machine Voice: You have no new messages.
Dr. McKay: Hmm... Must have been a power failure or something.

Gen. Hammond: Major Sheppard seemed uniquely capable of manipulating his own fabricated reality.
Maj. Sheppard: When I think about the scenarios I could have thought up, I’d kick myself.

Rodney: So none of this is real? The cute brunette... of course. I should have known! How do you go from “You’re a pig, but I like your cat,” to “I missed you?”

Dr. McKay: As long as we have the control crystal, I can make the other gate work,
Dr. Weir: You’re suggesting remove it from our DHD and bring to M5S224?
Dr. McKay: Yes.
Dr. Weir: Isn’t that risky?
Dr. McKay: I’ll be fine.
Major Sheppard: I think she means in terms of breaking our own gate…
