Rodney and his team are working on formulae and he refuses to bring in the Wraith. Zelenka suggests Rodney call his sister and he reluctantly considers the idea.
Jeannie is on Earth with her family and gets the e-mail from Rodney. That night, armed men burst into their house and take her away.
Sheppard, Ronon, and Rodney arrive on Earth and meet with Agent Barrertt to check out Jeannie’s disappearance. After comforting his brother-in-law Kaleb, Rodney explains he was working on the code to help Elizabeth Weir and figures that the abduction was connected to Jeannie’s assistance.
Jeannie is put into a room with a computer, and a man named Henry Wallace unties her then says he has some work for her to do.
Rodney calls the waiting Sheppard and Ronon, who is on his way with Barrett to the address he located. Rodney gives them the address and then he and Barrett go in first. However, the same intruders capture Rodney and knock out Barrett, and Ronon and Sheppard arrive just too late.
Rodney is put in with Jeannie and Wallace introduces himself, and Rodney recognizes him as the head of a medical technology company that designed the subcutaneous transponders the Stargate team uses… and he’s shut down Rodney’s so no one can track him. Wallace is aware of the military’s advances using technology from the SG project, and has been monitoring Rodney’s e-mails. Wallace explains that his daughter Sharon is suffering from leukemia and they used experimental nanites, but they’re malfunctioning and Sharon’s body is rejecting them. He promises Rodney he’ll release them if he cures his daughter.
While Barrett tries to locate Rodney, Jeannie works on the nanite coding problem while Rodney tries to use the computers to hack into the security mainframe. Rodney gets the doors open and they make a run for it but Rodney gets them lost. Wallace discovers they’re missing and has them recaptured, then injects Jeannie with the same nanites to force him to help.
Rodney realizes they should unleash the nanites’ full capability since they’re not programmed to replicate, and tries to apologize to Jeannie. While Sheppard and Barrett try to figure out which corporation might be involved, Jeannie talks to Rodney about whether he’s going to marry Katie. Wallace calls them in to show them that Sharon has recovered. Technician Harriman is regaling Ronon which a long-winded tale but thankfully Sheppard comes in to tell him they need someone to point a gun, as they’ve found Wallace’s company connection.
Wallace informs Rodney and Jeannie that he’s ready to go to jail as long as his daughter lives, but his daughter suddenly dies. Jeannie asks Wallace to let them get to a facility, but before Wallace can respond Sharon comes back to life. Rodney determines the nanites are still functional and the nanites shut down her heart to fix a heart murmur, then repaired the brain damage caused by lack of oxygen. The nanites don’t care about the brain damage that would result, and they realize that they’ll shut down Jeannie to treat her epilepsy. Sheppard and Ronon break in and take down Wallace and his people, and Rodney insists they get to SGC by teleport.
At Cheyenne Mountain, Rodney put Jeannie in a coma and breaks her legs to distract the nanites. With no other alternative, they bring the Wraith to Earth to help decode the Replicator programming. Rodney tries to convince him to help and ultimately persuades him by noting that it will help defeat the Replicators. The Wraith works on the programming until it collapses from hunger, and Rodney volunteers himself as food even though it will kill him. He reveals that Sharon has already died when her arteries were damaged by the nanites. Sheppard refuses to let Rodney sacrifice himself then talks to Wallace, convincing him to sacrifice himself.
Rodney tries to get to the laboratory with a “borrowed” ID and it fails, but Sheppard lets him in and claims that Wallace “accidentally” died when the Wraith killed him. The Wraith has finished the work and Jeannie revives, hugging him. After visiting with her family, Rodney visits Sheppard and thanks him for what he did.
