Tracker - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Rodney is in his quarters rehearsing medical lingo when Sheppard come in to ask him why he’s volunteering a good-will medical mission on his day off. He soon realizes what’s going on when it becomes clear Dr. Keller is leading the mission. Rodney goes to the departure chamber where he discovers that Ronon is going with them. They arrive tat the village no the planet where Keller is helping to deal with a mild-level contagious infection. She treats a mother and child and Rodney rattles off his one bit of rehearsed medical lingo, impressing her. Keller asks Ronon and Rodney to give them some privacy and they go to the local tavern where Ronon suggests Rodney leave if he wants. Rodney insists on staying and they go back to the mother and daughter. The mother says Keller left to meet them at the tavern. When they can’t contact Keller on the radio, Ronon goes to find tracks while Rodney heads for the Stargate to get reinforcements.

Keller wakes up tied up with a man watching over her. He refuses to answer her questions and drags her along through the woods. Meanwhile, Ronon finds their tracks and notices they mysteriously appear and reappear. Rodney gets to the Stargate but a wormhole opens and he hides. A Wraith party comes through and starts searching the area. Rodney steps on a twig, alerting one of them, and he runs through the woods firing as he goes. Ronon arrives and kills it, and determines it’s a Hunter: the Wraiths that track down Runners for sport.

The Runner, Kiryk, tells Keller he’s taking her to see someone while he leaves a false set of tracks. One of the Wraith Hunters approaches and Keller calls out a warning. Kiryk somehow teleports behind the wraith and decapitates him.

Rodney and Ronon go back to the village to warn them against the Wraith. They evacuate to the nearby caves. Meanwhile, Keller notices Kiryk wearing an alien device and he explains that he found it in an alien ruin, and it grafted itself onto him. It provides him with short-range teleport ability but takes time to recharge after several consecutive uses. She asks for a rest break and tries to make a run for it, but he teleports ahead of her and stuns her.

Ronon goes after Keller and Rodney insists on following him to help save Keller.

Kiryk explains to Keller that’s he’s a Runner. She says that there’s an alternative to Running and Ronon found a way out. He doesn’t believe him and takes her along to their destination.

Ronon continues to follow the trail but realizes that it’s too easy and Kiryk is setting some kind of trap. They also find blood from the decapitated Wraith.

Kiryk teleports Keller up past a cliff and they continue on. Meanwhile, Rodney drops behind to take a stone out of his boot and another Wraith attacks him. Rodney manages to shoot it down and Ronon is less than thrilled at the scientist’s inability to help. Rodney points out that they can use the Wraith tracker to home in on the Runner’s circle.

Kiryk finally explains to Keller that he has an injured person that he needs her to treat.

While Rodney and Ronon have to bypass the cliff, Keller offers to remove Kiryk’s tracking device the same way they removed Ronon’s. He reluctantly agrees to let her but she discovers that it’s a more sophisticated device that has merged with his brainstem. He gets her to a cave where a young girl, Celise, is hidden. She injured her leg and Kiryk went to find medical help, knowing an Atlantis team would eventually arrive. Celise is the last survivor of a village where Kiryk took refuge for a single night. The Wraith Hunters follows him there and culled everyone else. Keller determines the wound is infected and she’ll need more drugs and equipment then she has there to save Celise. He refuses and goes to stand guard, while Celise tells Keller that Kiryk isn’t as bad as it seems.

Ronon and Rodney near the cave and find a dead Wraith impaled on one of Kiryk’s traps. Meanwhile, Keller examines Celise and insists that she needs to go to Atlantis for medical treatment. Keller agrees but insists that Celise be returned to him. Keller warns that a life on the run is no life for a young girl. They’re interrupted when more Wraith Hunters approach. He kills two of them but a third one takes him out. It discovers the cave and Celise and prepares to feed, but Keller stabs it through the chest, killing it.

The next morning, Kiryk wakes up to discover that Keller dragged him and Celise clear of the cave before more Wraith Hunters could follow them. Keller suggests that she use her defibrillator to short out the tracking device. Kiryk agrees and she disables the device, then resuscitates the Runner. He wakes up and discovers that the teleportation device is also shorted out. Keller takes it for Rodney and the three of them head for the Stargate. Ronon and Rodney arrive there a little later and realize that Keller is now working with her captor. Wraith Darts arrive thought eh Stargate and start hunting for Kiryk, realizing his tracking device is no longer active. They catch up to Kiryk and the others and Ronon attacks the Runner. Keller breaks them apart and they reluctantly agree to work together to get off the planet and get Celise to safety. Celise’s wound has reopened so they have to remain in place until Keller can restitch the wound. Wraith Hunters arrive and together the group manage to take them out. Keller uses some fighting techniques that she has learned from Ronon: Rodney is less than thrilled at the news. They head for the Stargate and Rodney starts working with the teleportation device to see if he can reactivate.

They arrive at the Stargate only to find the Wraith are guarding it. Rodney gets the teleport device working and Kiryk takes it and teleports down to attack the Wraith. The device loses power after a few hours and Kiryk takes refuge behind the dialing device and holds off the Wraith while dialing coordinates. He leaps through the wormhole and the Wraith and their darts go after him. Keller and the others have no idea where he’s gone or how they can find him.

After telling the villagers they can return to their village, the team goes back to Atlantis where Keller completes Celise’s operation. Ronon returns the young girl’s doll, cheering her up and earning a smile from Keller that Rodney notices. Keller has made arrangements for a woman in the village to adopt Celise.

Later, Rodney talks to Ronon while he’s practice-sparring and wants to know what his intentions are. Ronon finally admits that he might have some intentions toward her and Rodney warns her that he does too and eh doesn’t plan to step aside. The two agree that the best man should win and shake hands.
