The Lost Tribe (2) - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Teyla tries to contact Zelenka and Sheppard, who were in the main control room when the Stargate blew up. She then accompanies the medical teams as they go in, and they find the two men, still alive.

Todd has his Wraith soldiers secure the Daedalus, warns his other ships not to engage their hyperdrives, and then sets course for Atlantis.

The captive Rodney explains to Daniel that he discovered from the logs that Janus' device causes Stargates to explode. Every civilization that uses a Stargate is at risk from an explosion more powerful than a dozen nuclear bombs.

Sheppard and the Atlantis repair teams manage to establish auxiliary control of Atlantis when the Daedalus arrives. Todd demands the "Attero Device" in return for the Daedalus and its hostage crew. Sheppard denies knowing about the device but Todd doesn't believe his denials. Todd threatens to kill a Daedalus crewmen every few minutes, starting with Woolsey, if Sheppard doesn't give them the device. Zelenka works out that the Attero Device must be what the alien invaders possessed, and have activated using the control piece they stole from Janus' hidden laboratory on Atlantis. Sheppard offers to go with Todd to the coordinates, but the Wraith leader doesn't trust them and Sheppard has no choice but to give him the planet's location to keep Woolsey alive. Todd informs Atlantis he'll be in touch and departs in the Daedalus

Still trapped aboard the Daedalus, Ronon manages to get past one of the emergency bulkheads Todd has used to seal off the interior. He takes out several Wraith soldiers and then takes Keller with him to disable the engineering room.

A Traveler ship arrives near Atlantis and its captain, Katana, informs Sheppard that Larrin has sent her to see if he knows anything about Stargates blowing up. She lands and explains that her group of Travelers were establishing their first planet-based colony when the Stargate blew up, killing thousands. Sheppard informs her they need a ship to get to the Attero Device before Todd does in the Daedalus, and Katana agrees to assist them.

Ronon gets to the engineering room and, over Keller's objections, starts shooting consoles until the ship drops out of hyperspace. Todd realizes something is going on and sends his men down to the engineering room.

The suited aliens take Daniel to their leader, and he tries to convince them to shut down the Attero Device. The leader is unconcerned about the effects of the Attero Device on Stargates, since they don't use them. He explains that they once fought the Wraith but now the planet they took refuge on after their defeat is dying. Now they plan to destroy the Wraith before the latter have the chance to wipe them out once and for all.

Katana introduces Sheppard and Zelenka to her chief engineer, a 15-year-old named Mila. Zelenka is nervous about the girl's seeming lack of experience and has no choice but to help her boost the engines.

Todd goes on the loudspeakers and tells the intruders to surrender in three minutes or he'll start killing hostages. Keller suggests that she surrender and claim she's operating alone, so that Ronon can still operate undetected. Ronon refuses, so she runs off and gets herself captured anyway.

Daniel questions the leaders as to why he is still wearing their battle armor when they need no protection against him and are in their own environment. The leader concedes the point and steps out of his armor: he's an Asgard. Daniel is surprised and explains that he has worked with the Asgard and considers some of them his friends. He wonders how these Asgard survived when the Asgard he knew all died of cellular degradation brought on by repeated cloning. The leader explains they have managed to avoid the degradation by experiments conducted using human subjects. Daniel is disgusted, noting they're no worse than the renegade Asgard Loki, but the group's leader notes that the Asgard's honor resulted in the species' extinction. His group of Asgard traveled to the Pegasus Galaxy but were attacked by the Wraith shortly upon arrival. They lost their intergalactic ships and were forced to take refuge on a planet with a toxic atmosphere. Unfortunately, the planet's atmosphere grew steadily worse and now the have no choice but to leave their refuge. They want to dispose of the Wraith first to guarantee that the last remnant of the Asgard are preserved.

Todd's men bring Keller to him, and he wonders how she caused the destruction in engineering. She lies and says she ditched her weapon, and he seemingly believes her. He then condemns her for having put the people of the galaxy at risk, since he claims to be on a mission on Sheppard's behalf to destroy the Attero Device. He gets word that the engines are on line and they go into hyperdrive, but the weapons are permanently non-functional. Keller wonders how he'll complete is mission but he tells her that he'll figure out way.

Daniel is brought back to the cell and tells Rodney what happened. In the meantime Rodney has figured out a way to escape by triggering the fire alarm.

Ronon rescues Keller as she's taken to the other prisoners. He then frees the other Daedalus crew and they go to the armory to arm themselves and retake the ship.

Rodney and Daniel find two empty Asgard protective suits. Daniel gets an idea...

With Katana's permission, Sheppard takes over the Traveler ship as they arrive at the Asgard planet. Two Asgard ships close in and the Traveler ship takes evasive action.

The Daedalus crew gets to the bridge only to realize that Todd and the other Wraith are preparing to abandon ship from the 302 launch bay. Woolsey and Marks realize that the controls are locked and they're heading for the Sheppard's coordinates.

Rodney and Daniel enter the Asgard control room and take out the guards. However, there's no way for them to shut down the antenna broadcasting the hyperdrive jamming signal: the Asgard leader has taken the control crystal. They check the scanners and discover the remaining Asgard are abandoning the base.

Sheppard and the Travelers destroy one Asgard ship and narrowly avoid a collision with the one fro the planet before it enters hyperspace. Another hyperspace window opens and the Daedalus emerges... and then goes on a collision course for the enemy base. Marks discovers that a subroutine program has detected the base and locked the ship's course onto its location.

Rodney notes that that the protective suits should guard them against the electricity and radiation in the antenna chamber, so they can go in and remove the control crystal. He and Daniel go into the power chamber while Todd and his soldiers escape the Daedalus as it plummets toward the planet. Sheppard has Zelenka and Mila create a hyperspace window ahead of the Daedalus and both ships go through it... and come out on the other side of the planet.

Daniel is hit by an electrical arc and collapsed, badly injured. Rodney disables the antenna, while in orbit, Marks regains control of the Daedalus control systems. They open fire on the last Asgard ship, destroying it.

Rodney notes that even though they're alive for the moment and the Attero Device is destroyed, they'll starve to death with no hope of rescue. He starts to admit he respects Daniel... and they're beamed up to the Daedalus. Once the scientists are safe, Woolsey orders the crew to open fire and destroy the entire base along with the device.

Later on Atlantis, Katana thanks Sheppard for his help and assures him that Larrin will be in touch. Meanwhile, Ronon suggests he and Keller get something to eat. However, influenced by what she saw of his behavior on the Daedalus, she tells him she's interested in someone else. He denies having any "interest" in her. She still wants to have dinner with him, as a friend, but he claims he has another appointment he forgot and begs off.

Rodney visits Daniel in the infirmary as the latter recovers. They've enhanced the Atlantis shields to prevent the Asgard from gaining access as they did before. Daniel notes that he's been ordered back to Earth for R&R after his injuries and thanks Rodney for saying he respected him. Now that Daniel isn't dying, Rodney quickly denies having said any such thing and was going to say he "regretted" working with him. Daniel isn't convinced and Rodney admits that he has trouble complimenting living people.
