Sergeant Walter Harriman, played by Gary Jones (1)
Chief Master Sergeant Walter Harriman is the technician in charge of dialing the stargate at Stargate Command. He also acts as the personal aide of the commander of SGC. He served under General Hammond, General O'Neill and currently General Landry.
Note: He was originally "Norman Davis," but during filming of the episode "2010," Richard Dean Anderson suddenly decided to call him Walter instead, leading to the name change to "Walter Davis." According to actor Gary Jones, the name "Harriman" originated from Don S. Davis' accent making the writers think he called Walter the name "Harriman" instead of "airman." During the first 6 seasons, his last name was listed as "Davis," but it was subsequently changed due to there being an actual Walter Davis in the U.S. Air Force. |
