Jack O'Neill is beamed to a ship. There he meets The Asgard high commander: Thor.
Thor tells him that the Goa'uld are mad at the humans and are planning to attack Earth. The only way to prevent that is to include Earth in the protected planets treaty that the Asgard have with the Goa'uld. Jack has been chosen to represent Earth in the negotiations.

Episode Quotes |
| |
Jack: Leave the world in my hands and I screw it up! | Thor: The System Lords are capable of launching an assault 100 times more powerful than the one you have previously withstood before by the hands of Apophis.
Jack: Okay, uh...that could be a problem.
Thor: The Asgard agree. | Sam: I think Cronus is the one who sent the Ashrak to kill Jolinar. I just hate having them here.
Jack: Major, I hate having them anywhere! | Thor: Earth has once again proven it can be a formidable threat to the Goa'uld.
Jack: Oh, now we're a threat to them! |

Episode Goofs |
| |
It is never explained how the System Lords learned of the second Stargate. | Although Jack seems to be under the impression that suppressed anger is part of Sigmund Freud's psychological theory, it is actually not. |
