Teal'c, whose mind has been altered by system lord Apophis, now believes that the last four years he spent where working undercover for Apophis against the SG-1. The SG-1 need to find away to get his mind back.
The team seek out Bra'tac, and ask his help. Bra’tac performs the Jaffa ritual known as the Rite of Mal'Sharran. However, this ritual will bring Teal’c to the edge of death, by forcing him to relive events throughout his life.

| Peter DeLuise cameo: when Hammond and O'Neill are discussing Teal'c's condition from the overhead room, the candles form the reflected initials "PD" on the glass.
| Footage from Children of the Gods (2) is used for Teal'c's memories. The only actors to appear in both that episode and this one, besides the regulars, are Peter Williams (Apophis) and Eric Schneider (Dr. MacKenzie.)
| Daniel Jackson tries to restore Teal'c memory by describing Apophis as a "False god...dead, false god". That's pretty good for a statement that Teal'c used in a Season 3 episode titled "Into the Fire" in which Daniel Jackson was a prisoner of Hathor's and on a different planet from Teal'c.

Jack: The fabric?
Daniel: That's what I heard him say.
Jack: Why would he say that?
Daniel: I don't know. Why would he say 'Va'lar'?
Jack: I don't know.
| Jack: I know you've been told this many times, but in case you weren't listening: I'm 100% s-sure... 99% sure, Apophis is dead
| Bra'tac: Teal'c is strong, stronger then I am.
Sam: Well I don't know - you're the fittest 137 year old I know.
Bra'tac: Perhaps.
| Jack: So, explain this to me one more time: you honestly believe that from the moment you broke us out of that prison on Chulak, you've been serving Apophis? Because I gotta tell you: as your best friend, at least in this whole wide world, that makes absolutely no sense at all. I mean, that would make you the most ineffective double agent in the history of doubleagency!"

Jack: He talked about a fabric. Briefly.
Daniel: He just called me a woman...
Jack: So I think it's working.

| When Jack says to Hammond "I'm sure if Teal'c were here, he'd approve", General Hammond's skill badges were in the wrong order. The Command pilot wings were on the bottom and the Space and Missile badge was on top. But in every other episode the Pilot wings are on top and the Space & Missile badge is on the bottom.
