After a near deadly pursuit by gliders and the well aimed destruction of one vessel, the SG-1 team just manage to leap safely through the Stargate. However a glider crashes on the Stargate just as Teal'c is going through, resulting in his energy being trapped in the Stargate. Just how can Stargate Command bring Teal'c through the Stargate?

| Advanced Stargate Lessons by Carter:
The Stargate turns matter into energy, and then transmits it through a subspace wormhole. The gate on the receiving end is what translates the energy signature and re-converts it back into the matter’s original form. The Stargate has massive amounts of memory inside it. It’s like a computer buffer; it temporally stores the energy patterns, before it re-converts them back into matter. Now, it does this to make sure that it has all the information before it reassembles the object.
| This episode marks the first appearance of Dr. Rodney McKay (David Hewlett) on the series. He would later become a regular character on the spin-off series Stargate Atlantis.
