For me, there can only be one choice: Jack O'Neill, two 'l's, the greatest of all the Tau'ri.

Jack was good but he was getting too cocky around season 6-7 in my opinion. Anyway, Mitchell is good, I don't even notice that Jack is gone anymore. Mitchell is the new Jack for me!

Jack FTW, but as Farris said, Mitchell is good. Mitchell Is a good character and the only substitute ever imaginable to take place someone like Jack. I cant imagine how it would of been with someone else substituting/replacing jack?.

Jack > Mitchell (lol greater or equal to)

Not to embarrass anyone, but realize Faris’ faint praise here is a remarkable turnaround for him, and high praise for Ben B performance! Those of us from Faris’ old TVT Forum will understand what I mean.

Faris,

If you saved the world eight times, you'd be cocky too!

I personally prefer Mitchell too. I was getting bored of O'Neill in the last few series. Plus I prefer Ben Browder to RDA.

Yeah, that's right but luckily BB proved to be a very good actor for me at least. I thought it was going to be all farscape and stuff but I just think of him as the new SG guy not the farscape guy like I was afraid of last year. Personally, I'm against Vala being in the cast in season 10 but we'll see how that goes.

Faris,

Unfortunately, my guess is that Black’s addition indicates Tapping’s desire to leave after 9 plus seasons, and having had a baby. I could be wrong, but it would follow the trend here.

The counter to this theory is that this would leave the team without the brilliant scientist (archeologists don’t count).

Actually, I think I figured out who leaves in S10. If you want, you can read my "The Shroud" thread but there are spoilers there.

I think big things have to happen in season ten. I can’t see how they are going to go with a five man team and two SGC leaders into the future. Plus, season ten will probably sort itself out by breaking into the second spin off.

Maybe we need a thread on who potentially goes or doesn’t go with the next spin off.

I think that the second spin off will be after season 11 or 12, its just too early...

Yes, but the set up to Atlantis, in SG-1, started a full season earlier with Dr. Weir, etc. Season ten is likely the set up for the potential spin off(s) / movie. JMHO.

Why do they want another series anyway? Personally, I am against spinoffs for the most part. Except in Atlantis, it actually turned out to be good but making another series for the sole point of exending the show's basic idea is wrong. Plus, Stargate's budget is not what it used to be before Atlantis. Also note seaons 1-7 22 eps seasons 8+ 20 eps after Atlantis was made. So what? Are we goin to have 18 eps a season with this new show? Personally, I still wish we had 22 ep seasons, it was traditional and I always wonder what stories could have been if it weren't for the fact the seasons are now truncated.

Faris,

Yes, but all the original (read “new”) series are also 20 eps. per year. I also know you don’t like spin-offs, but come on STNG DOES beat STOS! (Sorry, inside argument)

I’m glad, however, that SGA has been excluded from this view.

My view is let’s wait and see. It may work, and it may not.
