Now that we have had some time since the series ended, and maybe a different perspective, shouldn't it have ended with season 8? Knowing that the season premiere of season 9 was supposed to be the pilot of a different series, can anything else speak more clearly or loudly?

Now, I don't hate season 9. I just don't see it as quite the same show. They are never going to convince me that Mitchell was not a replacement for O'Neill, but at least they tried.

In season 10, the wheels came off the wagon. The Ori are apparently destroyed 2/3 into the season, so the rest of the stories seem rather pointless, in comparison. Even with the Ori dead, their followers were a threat worse than the Goa'uld. Their ships, practically unstoppable. But no one seemed to care anymore.

Threads would have been a fantastic series finale. Moebius was fun, but it didn't add anything significant to the story or characters, or answered any major questions.

Anyway, I guess my point is, is "'more" automatically "better"? Is it really a good thing to drag a series past its prime?
