An interesting point but I doubt it but its possible. I think they called them it as the gate produces a puddle or sorts and it goes from puddle to puddle - jumping. |
I thought it was because they "jump" (fly) over the "puddle" which is the watery surface of the planet. Sort of like we call the Atlantic the Pond. Like what Fu thought. |
I am not quite following what you mean.
|
Much like we call the Atlantic ocean, the Pond, they coloquially call the giant Atlantis sea the Puddle. And the PJs jump (fly) over the sea. Puddle Jumper - they jump over the puddle. I thought that as soon as I heard the name. Because they are on a water planet, they are/were presumably used a lot to fly over the planet. I don't really know how to explain it any differently. |
It’s basically an Inverse proportionality thing. The bigger a thing is the smaller you describe it as. The Atlantic equals a pond, the massive Atlantis ocean planet equals a puddle. That’s how I saw it, anyway. |

Oh ok I have never heard of the Atlantic Ocean being called the pond so that is why I was confused with what you said. But I guess it could be that. |

Let me state here (maybe again), I don’t like adding future season episodes. I except that others do, so I will allow early future season episodes to be added, but only the early episodes, as forecasting too far out will be prone to errors and just duplicate other sites errors. JMHO.
I have just excepted several season 10 episode title submissions, but I think they’re enough for now, at least until more definitive info comes out. Definitive does not mean GateWorld, unless it relates to a crews’ direct quotes (including its sequence order and air date). |

Yeh I agree with that its best not to add them untill a crew member ie a producer/writer has confirmed it |

The problem with that theory is that they named them Puddle Jumpers prior to opening the exterior hatch to the Jumper Bay. Undoubtedly, the character John Sheppard named them such because of their ability to jump into the "puddle" of the event horizon. But I meant did the producers come up with the name in honor of Gen. Jumper? |

Yeh thats what I think and there is a possiblity that they named then in his honor but I think it is unlikely but I could be wrong. |

Okay David, let’s critic this. I doubt they are saying Gen. Jumper was like a puddle (Gen. Jumper is a puddle?). I have not read anything to connect the Jumpers’ name to him, so far. However, people jump over puddles on the street, etc, so that seems to be the more reasonable answer. I agree the “puddle” may refer to the gate’s watery look when activated. |
