During their childhood, seven children became friends and united to battle a demonic shapeshifter who haunted the town of Derry and preyed on children. They believed they had killed it, but they were wrong. Now, 30 years later, a half-remembered vow summons them back to Derry to battle the shapeshifter, It.

Five of the Lucky Seven return to Derry, and their sixth member, Mike, tells them that It is back after 30 years and another cycle of killings has begun. While the six friends try to discover if they still have the old magic, Pennywise the Clown make plans of Its own.

1x2: Part 2 recap: Bill Densbrough arrives in Derry and checks in at the hotel. After chatting briefly with the front desk clerk, a fan of his work, he takes a taxi to the cemetery to visit the grave of his brother, Georgie. He apologizes for forgetting, but then turns at a sound and sees Pennywise digging seven graves. The clown points out that the one on the end is already taken.
