The Executive Producer of a sketch show entitled Studio 60, which is celebrating it's 20th season, has a melt-down on air and is fired from the show. He leaves behind a PR disaster and a show in need of new management and guidance. Network president Jordan McDeere hires Danny Tripp and Matt Albie as Executive Producers for the show, hoping that together they can save the show.

The Studio 60 cast and crew continue to deal with the fallout of Wes' on-air breakdown, as well as adjusting to Matt and Danny's management. Harriet finds out that Matt is sleeping with Jeannie, a cast member and writer. Meanwhile, Jeannie stresses when a sketch she pitched doesn't go over as well as she hoped; and the team scrambles to find a musical guest when the lead singer for The White Stripes catches tonsillitis.

Elsewhere, Jordan meets Hallie, the new Vice President of Alternative programming, but their meeting is anything but perfect.
