The Shelf Life - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The scene opens with Harvey, Louis and Jessica at a Charity Event when Harvey sees that Tori, a client of theirs, is there. Louis asks if he smells like sausage and Harvey tells him that he doesn’t. Louis goes up to a woman. Jessica comes up with Tori and introduces her to Harvey. She tells that she has a problem with one of her employees and would like them to handle it. Jessica says that they will do it. Meanwhile Mike is with Jenny and they are getting hot and heavy. Jenny says that that they need to slow down. He agrees on the fact that Trevor is to blame. Jenny sees an invitation to Harvard Alumni Ball and asks if he is going. He says that he isn’t going to go to an event where he doesn’t belong. Lying about the Harvard Law School thing is bad enough. Jenny and Mike start to get “busy” when Mike’s cell phone rings. It is Harvey. Mike goes up to Harvey and Harvey says that they are going to fire Stan Jacobson, a Senior Accountant to their firm. Mike asks what he did and Harvey says that he lied about where he went to school and how he is a fraud. Mike asks if that could happen to him and says that he could be fired if Jessica found out. Jessica comes in and asks what she can’t find out about. Harvey lies and says that Mike is a virgin. She tells that she is not surprised. However, Mike is nervous as he walks out.

The next day, Jenny comes in to the law firm and tries to get through security. Rachel comes in and Jenny asks if she can give the suit to Mike and says that she stayed over at his place and Mike didn’t come home. Rachel says that she will give it to him. Rachel gets into the office and finds Mike on the floor sleeping. She kicks him and tells that Jenny gave him his suit coat. He changes and Rachel hangs back a little to watch. Mike gets into Harvey’s office and says that he doesn’t want to be there when they fire him. Harvey asks about the background check and Mike tells that he will look into it. Mike goes into Louis office and he asks Mike if he can tell what happened to him. Louis tells him that he spent the night with the most beautiful woman last night. Mike is disgusted when Louis tries to tell what he did. Mike calls up the company that did the background check. They tell that they are not going to cooperate with them. However, he gets them to give it to him when he threatens with a lawsuit. Mike goes up to Stan and he says that he has been wanting to meet with Harvey for his balls. Mike is confused and Stan clarifies that he was talking about his autographed baseballs.

They get into Harvey’s office and Harvey tells him that he is not there to discuss baseball, but to tell him that he is being let go. Stan is devastated and says that he has been good the entire time working for them. However, Mike shows a document that says that the background check that they ran on Stan is 5 years old. Stan realizes that Tori is trying to railroad him just like they did with Paula when she found some discrepancies. Harvey talks to Jessica and Tori and Tori says that he should have made Stan sign the severance package which included a confidentiality agreement. Jessica tells Tori that Harvey is going to get them the signature. After Tori leaves, Harvey tries to argue that something is not right. Jessica says that the company that Tori owns brings in $10 Million a month. She orders Harvey to get the signature. She tells that Mike is to blame for showing the document to Stan. Harvey walks up to Mike and tells him to come with him. He tells Mike that he cannot sympathize with Stan just because you feel that Stan is just like him. He says that Jessica is not forgiving and will fire Mike if he doesn’t watch it. Harvey goes up to Stan and tells that if he doesn’t sign the agreement, then they are going to be forced to file a lawsuit on him. He says that he can’t afford the law suit and agrees.

Mike answers the door at his place and it is Jenny. She asks why she left her at his place without anything. Mike says that he almost got fired. He says that he needs to find facts that their accountant is doing something bad and says that he traced it back to a law firm called Unger & Tracy and they won’t take his calls. Jenny says that she thought that the lawyers ran in the same circles. Mike gets and idea to go to the mixer with other lawyers. Later, Jenny and Mike get to the mixer and they tell that Mike is not on the list. Jenny tells that Mike works for Harvey Specter and the guy taking roll tells them to go in and not to worry about anything. Back at the office, Jessica goes into Harvey’s and thanks him for getting the signature. Harvey says that he doesn’t like that Tori is possibly hiding something. He mentions a company called Abadine. She tells him that she is telling him not to look into this. However, it is clear that she is not going to stop him.

Mike mingles when he sees Brian Jennings, a lawyer for Unger & Tracy. He is about to go up when Louis comes up and says that it is a surprise to see Mike there. Mike is not able to get to Jennings. Harvey goes up to Judge Morrison and says that he needs a favor. Jenny comes up and talks to Louis date, Charisse. They walk up to them and Mike tells that he never had a chance to talk to Jennings. She excuses herself. Back in the judge’s chambers, they find a lawsuit between Abadine. Harvey sees that Abadine is closed. Louis says that it is good that Mike got a date outside of the law office. Charisse says that she would love to see where Louis works. Jenny gives Mike the ID card of Jennings and tells him to get the documents he needs. Mike goes into the law offices and slyly walks in. However, he is caught looking at documents. Later, Harvey comes into the law offices of Unger & Tracy and the security guard tries to extort Harvey to get Mike from going to the police. Harvey tells that he knows of the security guard’s tax fraud and says that he is going to make a donation to his “little league” and leave. Mike asks how he does that and Harvey isn’t interested in that and Mike asks if he found anything. Harvey says that he found that Tori has a “Shelf Company”, a company set for hiding assets. Harvey says that they need to find legal means to get the documents.

Mike gets into work and everyone is huddled around his desk. They are watching security footage of Louis getting slapped and then kneed in the stomach. They tell that Louis wants a restraining order from Charisse and needs the footage for evidence. Louis walks in and sees that they are watching the footage. He walks away angry. Later, Stan goes into Harvey’s office and Jessica is there. They tell that they are filing a law suit against Tori for the Abadine case. Rachael goes up to Mike and asks why he is still working. He says that he is trying to find evidence that will implicate their accounting firm. Rachael says that he will dictate and she will type. She tells him that he saw the forms and that is good enough. Mike starts to dictate what he remembers verbatim. Afterward, Rachael says that Mike’s mind is amazing. Rachael says that it is tough having a relationship with a lawyer and she leans in and kisses Mike. He is stunned. Louis comes in and asks what they are still doing there and says that there are no relationships in the work place. Mike walks away. The next day, Rachael and Mike run into each other and Mike thanks Rachael for the typing. Harvey comes up and says that he needs the files.

Harvey goes into the conference room and Jessica and Harvey tell that they are no longer their law firm because they are going to be suing her for everything she has. Tori tries to play the “friend card” and Jessica says that Tori has been stealing money from her law firm and that they are not friends. Stan is happy that he is going to get his job back, but Harvey says that he can’t because he lied on his resume. Mike says that his best asset is his mind. Stan says that he should have never done it. Mike looks nervous and walks away. Harvey goes into Jessica’s office and tells that he was right that they wouldn’t catch him. He tells that Mike helped and Jessica says that she will give him the benefit of the doubt. Mike goes into Harvey’s office and asks what they are going to do when he gets caught. Harvey says that he isn’t going to get caught and says that Mike can make money without the job. Harvey says that if he wants the job to stop, all he has to do is tap out. Jenny comes into the office and Louis tells her that Jenny should pick up Mike more often because all the “late nights” with Rachel. She is confused and Louis says that it is all the “animal behavior”. Mike comes up and Jenny is a little standoffish. The episode ends.
