Lobo – 'assassin, brigand, sociopath, monster,' and 'scourge of the cosmos' – is a bounty hunter doing his regular duty of picking up a small time thief when all of a sudden he's intercepted by The Preserver. In his pursuit of collecting the rarest creatures from all over the universe, he forcibly 'hires' Lobo to retrieve the final specimen of the planet Krypton: Superman.

Sherman Howard, who voices the Preserver, played Lex Luthor in The Adventures of Superboy. Howard was orginally going to play Lex Luthor for this series, but the producers liked Clancy Brown's performance better.
