Jor-El, steadfast in his beliefs, contends that Brainiac is purposefully miscalculating and seeks to uncover the reason why.

This is the question on everyone's lips in Metropolis, especially Lois Lane – reporter for the Daily Planet, the local newspaper – and Lex Luthor, the multi-millionaire who, in his own words, 'owns' the city. The latter is particularly perturbed when Superman – as Clark Kent – starts examining the link between the theft of the LEXO-SKEL SUIT 5000, a fearsome high tech suit of armor, and Luthor himself.

Things take a turn for the worse after Lois defames the Toyman in a front page Daily Planet article.

While trying to stop a couple of petty criminals from robbing the Lex Luthor Museum of Natural History, Superman stumbles upon something that will plague him evermore: the immobilizing Kryptonite. Luthor, watching the surveillance tapes of the incident after the fact, also noted the powerful effect the alien rock had on the Man of Steel, and immediately hatched a plan to dispose of the Last Son of Krypton with its help.

When the heist goes awry, Rudy becomes the victim in way of a chemical bath. The results, however, are unlike anything anyone has ever seen before!

Brainiac, though, has no interest in dealing with Luthor, and instead is eager to reunite the last two Kryptonians, himself and Superman. This revelation of another survivor of Krypton – albeit artificial intelligence – leaves Superman bewildered. Everything becomes clear, however, after Superman experiences a prophetic dream revealing Brainiac's callous modus operandi.

In his pursuit of collecting the rarest creatures from all over the universe, he forcibly 'hires' Lobo to retrieve the final specimen of the planet Krypton: Superman.

When the mysterious Kanto arrives with gifts of advanced, other-world weaponry, Mannheim doesn't look the gift horse in the mouth. Instead, he immediately sets out to plunder the city; using these phenomenal weapons to deal with Superman once and for all, is simply the icing on the cake.

Unwilling to put the destruction of the asteroid on hold, the military immediately ignites the charges, sending the 'Prometheon' plummeting to Earth. The trouble is, how do you stop a monster that makes Superman seem like a pesky fly?

Ben's opportunistic brother, Mark, is unable to control his thirst for power, and seizes the invention to put to a more sinister use.

Leslie, who all too soon learns first-hand the shocking reality of the choice she made.

'Who would want to kill her, and why?' are two questions she doesn't have time to answer as seconds later, her name rings throughout the hall and thereby declared the winner.

While on asteroid-smashing detail outside the space station, Superman realizes there is something peculiar about the asteroids, as evinced by their mysterious blue glow. Even more surprising was finding a capsule lodged inside one of these massive rocks, and in it, Lois’ long lost childhood monkey, ‘Titano’ (so named after the rocket that sent him into space, ‘Titan 0’). It’s soon discovered that the substance that affected the asteroids, also took effect on Titano in a big way.
