A year ago, Bobby performs a ritual to summon Crowley into his home. The demon arrives and notes that they saved the world, and Bobby offers him a drink. Crowley refuses, and says that he prefers a rare brand of Scotch. He figures that Bobby called him to get his soul back, but Crowley informs him that all he has to do is make a "best effort" to give him back his soul. In ten years, Bobby comes to him. When Crowley approaches him, Bobby reveals that he's painted a fluorescent Devil's Sign on the floor. Unimpressed, Crowley summons a hellhound and Bobby reluctantly releases him.
Now, the Winchesters are in Kenosha, Wisconsin, investigating a series of deaths where the victims have had their chests cracked open and their hearts eaten. Dean calls Bobby and asks him to research a claw that they've found on the murder scene. Bobby finally answers the phone, but warns that he's busy. Despite that, he agrees to check the photo they send to him. When he doesn't find anything in his own books, he drives into Sioux Falls to get a book but discover that the library is closed. He breaks in and steals the book, but his car doesn't start. Once he finally gets home, Bobby works through the night and confirms that they're hunting a lamia. However, they've never been seen outside of Greece. Bobby tells Dean that it can be killed by a blessed silver knife, and Dean immediately hangs up.
A woman calls out from the basement and Bobby goes down to talk to the female demon that he's captured. He demands Crowley's real name, and the demon taunts him about when he had to kill his wife. In response, Bobby gets out a bag and tells her the contents are her own. He puts them in a barrel and gets out a blow torch, and she insists that it's a myth. Undeterred, Bobby burns the contents and the demon screams in pain as burns cover her body. The demon warns that Crowley is the king of Hell and will punish her.
The doorbell rings and Bobby goes to answer the door. It's his neighbor, Marcy Ward, and she figures it's time he welcome her to the neighborhood since she arrived six months ago. Marcy gives him her famous peach cobbler and she hears the demon yelling. He claims that it's a horror movie, and Marcy invites him over to watch a horror movie that night. Bobby agrees, and she asks him to come over and check out her wood chipper. Marcy goes and Bobby goes back downstairs to torture the demon. It finally gives in and tells him that it's Fergus MacLeod. He then sprays the contents with lighter fluid and burns them entirely, destroying the demon.
As Bobby checks maps of Scotland, he takes calls from various hunters and people checking their references. Rufus shows up and asks Bobby to help bury a body. They identify it as an okami, a Japanese spirit that Rufus killed in Billings. Bobby notes that it's never been seen outside of Japan, and the Winchesters are after a lamia. They figure something is up but don't know what. The two hunters bury the lamia in the junkyard and discuss Crowley. Rufus identifies the brand of Scotch that Crowley drinks, and offers his contacts in Scotland. Bobby doesn't want help, but Rufus insists on doing it.
As Bobby prepares to try Marcy's cobbler, Dean calls and explains that the priest they were going to get to bless the silver knife was killed by the lamia. As Sam fights the monster, Bobby starts to give Dean directions to make a potion. However, there's a knock on his door. It's Sheriff Jody Mills and an FBI agent, Adams. Bobby claims he's talking to his mother and gives Dean the rest of the "recipe." Once it's destroyed, Bobby hangs up. Adams wants to know if Bobby has seen Rufus, and doesn't believe Bobby's denial. When he asks to check out the junkyard, Bobby refuses and tells him to get a warrant. Sheriff Mills interrupts and asks Adams to let her check the place out. Adams goes outside and Mills demands to know what's going on. They realize that Adams has gone looking around, and he brings them to see the grave. It's been dug up from below and the okami is gone. Bobby claims that it's a septic tank explosion.
Bobby calls Rufus, who eventually admits that he didn't properly kill the okami. Rufus explains that it was feeding on single white females while they slept.
Marcy is preparing for bed when Bobby kicks down the door. He searches the house and goes to Marcy's bedroom. The okami attacks him and throws him outside. It comes after him and they struggle near the wood chipper. Bobby turns it on by accident and it tries to throw him in. He finally manages to knock it into the wood chipper, destroying it for good. The blood spray covers Bobby and Marcy, and she admits that she just claimed it was broken to get him over. He offers to come over for dinner, and she says no.
The next morning, Bobby calls Rufus and explains what happened. Rufus admits that he screwed up and thanks Bobby, and then tells him he's got a lead on Crowley. He knows where Crowley was born as a human, and that he had a son named Gavin. Gavin was the captain of a trading ship and died in Massachusetts when his ship went down in 1723. Divers found Gavin's signet ring, which is part of a maritime museum exhibit. Bobby reluctantly asks him to get the ring, and Rufus figures that he's going to make an exchange.
That night, Bobby prepares to eat his peach cobbler when Dean calls. He needs someone to listen to his worries about Sam, but Bobby has to take a call from Rufus. The police are pursuing him and he has no choice but to swallow the ring. As the police capture Rufus, Bobby switches back to Dean, who complains that Bobby is being selfish. Bobby finally has enough and tells Dean to put Sam on the line. He then chews the two of them out and tells them he needs help for once. They immediately agree to help.
The next day, Bobby meets with Sheriff Mills. She's covered up Marcy's report, and Bobby asks her for a favor. He needs her to get Rufus extradited by claiming he's a murderer. Mills warns that she can't do it, and if she could, it could ruin her career. Bobby reminds her of what he's done for the town and admits it's hard to ask for help, but Mills says that she can't.
Back at home, Bobby is pouring himself a drink when Mills arrives with Rufus. She tells Bobby that he's got one hour before she reports that Rufus escaped. Once she leaves, Rufus shows Bobby that he has the ring, and Bobby goes to boil some water.
Later, Bobby performs a ritual using the ring and summons Gavin's spirit. He confirms that he's Fergus' son and says they need to have a chat.
Some time later, Bobby summons Crowley, who looks the worse for wear. He's immediately trapped within a Devil's Sign on the ceiling, but warns Bobby that he can easily escape. Bobby notes that he's heard that Crowley is the ruler of Hell, and Crowley explains that despite his "promotion," the demons won't listen to him or choose a better way. He then tells Bobby he won't get his soul back, but Bobby summons Gavin. Crowley feigns bogus emotion and then laughs, and tells Bobby that he hated Gavin in life. Bobby says that Gavin isn't a chip, and he used the ghost to dig up dirt on Crowley. Now Bobby knows where Crowley's human bones are buried in Scotland... and has sent Dean and Sam to burn the bones. Crowley insists it's a myth, but Bobby knows better, and explains that he burned the demon's bones earlier to destroy her. All demons are, are ghosts with an ego. Crowley gives in and frees Bobby's soul, and Bobby makes sure he leaves in the part about his legs.
Crowley teleports to Scotland and collects his bones. Dean considers burning them despite their deal, but Sam insists they have to keep their end of the bargain. Crowley says he has some hell to raise and departs.
As Dean and Sam drive to the airport, Bobby calls and thanks them for their help. He apologizes for what they said, and the brothers thank him for all the help he's given them over the years. Bobby wishes them well and hangs up, and prepares to eat his peach cobbler. However, the phone rings and Bobby goes back to work, helping hunters.
