While following a lead about a death in Chicago, Sam reunites with Meg. Sam is happy about running into her until he and Dean figure out that she is murderer they are looking for. Meg ambushes Sam and Dean with shadow spirits, but the boys soon find out that the trap was meant for their father, not them.

Sam: Yeah, um, I'm sorry, Meg. This is um, this is my brother, Dean.
Meg: This is Dean?
Sam: Yeah.
Dean: So, you've heard of me?
Meg: Ohh, yeah. I've heard of you. Nice. The way you treat your brother like luggage.
Dean: Sorry?
Meg: Why don't you let him do what he wants to do? Stop dragging him over God's green earth.
Sam: Meg, it's alright.
Dean: (whistles) Okayyy, awkward! Heh heh, I'm gonna get a drink, then.

Dean: You got a funny way of showing your affection.
| Dean: (to Sam) Now why don't you go knock on her door and uhh, invite her to a poetry reading or whatever it is you do, huh?

| Nitpick: When in Meredith's apartment, Dean traces out a symbol by connecting blood splatter dots with tape. With all the combinations possible of connections between the dots, how did Dean come up with the symbol that he did?

This is a reference to actor Chad Michael Murray . He currently stars on the WB show One Tree HIll and co-starred with Supernatural star Jared Padalecki on Gilmore Girls.

| Sam and Dean's relationship with their father
This episode is a good example of the relationship that the brothers have with their father. Though they have spent their time searching for their father, Sam and Dean decide to let their father leave without them, knowing that if he stays he will be in danger. John proves that even though he left his boys, he still cares deeply for them by showing up when they need him the most.
