Episode Quotes
Bobby: (handing Dean one of two flasks) Here you go.
Dean: What is this, holy water?
Bobby: That one is. (drinking the other) This is whiskey.

Dean: Tell the truth, I wasn't sure if we should come.
Bobby: Nonsense. Your daddy needs help.
Dean: Well, yeah, but last time we saw you, I mean, you did threaten to blast him full of buckshot. You cocked the shotgun and everything.
Bobby: Yeah, well, what can I say? John just has that effect on people.
Dean: Yeah, I guess he does.

Sam: And these, uh, these protective circles, they really work?
Bobby: Hell, yeah, you get a demon in one, they're trapped, powerless. It's like a satanic roach motel.

Meg Masters: I swear, after everything I heard about you Winchesters, I've got to tell you, I'm a little underwhelmed. First, Johnny tries to pawn off a fake gun, and then he leaves the real gun with you two chuckleheads. Lackluster, man. I mean, did you really think I wouldn't find you?
Dean: Actually, we were counting on it.

Meg Masters: You know, if you wanted to tie me up, all you had to do was ask.

Dean: Where's our father, Meg?
Meg Masters: You didn't ask very nice.
Dean: Where's our father, bitch?
Meg Masters: Geez, you kiss your mother with that mouth? Oh, I forgot, you don't.

Meg Masters: That's kind of a turn-on, you hitting a girl.
Dean: You're no girl.

Meg Masters: He begged for his life with tears in his eyes. He begged to see his sons one last time and that's when I slit his throat.
Dean: For your sake, I hope you're lying. 'Cause if it's true, I swear to God I will march into Hell myself and I will slaughter each and every one of you evil sons of bitches, so help me God!

Meg Masters: You son of a bitch, you promised!
Dean: I lied!

Bobby: You think you guys invented lying to the cops? I’ll figure something out.

Dean: (to Sam) Boy, you and Dad are a lot more alike that I thought, you know that? You both can't wait to sacrifice yourself for this thing, but you know what, I'm gonna be the one to bury you!

Dean: What's happening? Is there a fire?
Firefighter: Sir, you have to stand back.
Dean: Well, I got a Yorkie upstairs and he pees when he's nervous.

Dean: I always wanted to be a fireman when I grew up.
Sam: You never told me that!

Demon John: What the hell's gotten into you?
Dean: I could ask you the same thing.

Sam: But the holy water?
Demon John: You think something like that works on something like me?
Sam: I'm gonna kill you!
Demon John: Oh... that'd be a neat trick. In fact... here, make the gun float to ya there, Psychic Boy.

Demon John: Your dad, he's in here with me. Trapped inside his own meat suit. He says "Hi," by the way.

Dean: Let him go, or I swear to God...
Demon John: What? What are you and God gonna do?

Demon John: What? You're the only one who can have a family? You destroyed my children. How would you feel if I killed your family? Oh... that's right, I forgot, I did. Still, two wrongs don't make a right.

Dean: Listen, you mind just getting this over with, huh, 'cause I really can't stand the monologuing.

Episode Goofs
When Meg taunts Dean and he slaps her, her hair is messed up and covering her right eye. When the camera cuts to a different shot, the hair has neatened itself up.

After the demon is exorcised, Sam and Dean run over and untie Meg's hands. Her feet are also tied to the chair, and the brothers never reach down to untie the ropes, but in the next shot, they are united.

When Sam throws holy water at his father to see if he's demon-possessed, the sound of water splashing is dubbed in, but no water emerges from the flask.

When Dean shoots the assistant demon attacking Sam, it collapses with its left leg over Sam's legs. However, in the next shot the demon's legs aren't touching Sam's.

When the possessed John causes Dean to bleed, Dean's mouth begins dripping blood. In the next shot, the blood pattern changes and shrinks.

As Sam drives to the hospital, Dean is in the seat behind him and wedged against the door on the driver's side. In the next shot, Sam checks him in the rear-view window, and can see him directly. For this to happen, the mirror would have to be twisted at an extreme angle but there's no indication Sam changes the mirror's position. Also, Sam's head should block at least part of Dean's reflection.
