Great season finale. Nice twist about the final seal. Sam played into Lilith and Ruby's hands the whole time..
Misha is great as Castiel. You don't know at times whether he's going to follow his orders or break them to help Dean and Sam. Cool special effects with the whole Angel sanctuary/prison for Dean.
"They're supposed to make you miserable. They're families!!"
I don't think Bobby meant what he said about the Dad. Obviously an attempt to rile him so he could do the right thing with Dean.
Writers have been great at this whole God/Devil thing. Everybody is a pawn for somebody. Dean and Sam woke up to that but sadly they have no control over it.
I wonder what they'll do next with Apocalypse storyline.

Man, Supernatural season finales are always cliffhangers! I thought it was a great episode. The whole season has been great, actually. I'm really looking forward to the conclusion. |

Supernatural is winging it and I liked it better when it was tight. It still manages, amazingly, to be entertaining. But the fun now has a bitter aftertaste. I regret the turn of the background story into the area of angels and God. There's no ryhyme or reason to it. Supernatural was just fine before this, although I sure get sick of the whole macho growling routine the brothers do. It wears. I'm not saying the show made sense before this turn. But the focus was on fun and the senselessness of the background story wasn't highlighted like it is now. The standalone episodes were great.
That said, Are they going to let us down and not show us the Bad Boy in the next episode? |

I thought it was a great finale, too. I laughed out loud when I realized they weren't going to show you-know-who. Such a tease! For me, the writing has improved so much this season. Before this story arc, the show was a little on the fluffball side for me. I appreciated the attempt, but it seldom rose above mediocre. It kind of reminded me of LOST. You just KNOW that the writers didn't know where that mess of a show was going, and were as surprised as ME that it got picked up... not that the scripts improved. But these writers focused on a winning angle/angel. You can never go wrong with demons & angels. They're fascinating, scary, you can't really write them "wrong" because they're unpredictable & mysterious, to say the least. And who else is doing it? There's been a very few "angel" shows, and even less with demons as co-stars. Throw in a few "stand-on-their-own" episodes, like XFILES & ANGEL & BUFFY did to keep it interesting (too much of a good thing... is GREAT). Thanks writers for a great season. Keep it up. Or, down... |
