That was pretty cool up until the end. What the heck was that ending?

Not the part where Castiel and Sam switched places (that made sense), but what happened next when Castiel was suddenly scared of him and then resigned himself to stay at the hospital.

Why would Castiel be scared of Lucifer? 1) Angels need no sleep 2) Castiel is still powerful as we saw in the episode when he took care of business. Lmao that ending scene with him sitting in hospital was the most ridiculous thing ever for such a beast. Ugh.

There has to be a bigger picture here, otherwise this is shameless pandering by Sera freaking Gamble which is pretty pathetic at this point since fans have put up with a lot of crappy episodes, and this one almost undid the damage especially after they killed Bobby and now maybe Frank. There's a few episodes more with Misha, so we'll see.

At the last point, it had nothing to do with Sam. Like Castiel said, Sam's brain had crumbled entirely because of Lucifer's influence. All Cass could do was take the damage onto himself. How powerful he is or whether he can sleep has nothing to do with being insane, and they hung a lamp that he wasn't powerful enough to restore a destroyed mind.

Now, if he eventually goes out as an insane super-powerful angel and starts wrecking havoc... well, we'll see. I imagine Meg is there in part to make sure that doesn't happen.

But I can see it leading to one of several different resolutions. Like Meg and/or Crowley (when he inevitably finds out) unleashing Castiel as a superweapon against the Leviathans. Or using Castiel's mindless body as a focus to drive them back into Purgatory, since they came out through Castiel.
