Season 22 "Redemption Island" - The Reunion - Recap

The Reunion of Survivor Season 22 is underway where the winner is going to be chosen. They are LIVE in New York City. They clean up nicely and Jeff asks if Natalie, Rob and Philip if they have a shot to win the $1 Million. They all say that they do. The votes are Rob with 4, Philip with 1. The winner of Survivor “Redemption Island” is Rob Mariano. He thanks the jury and goes to kiss his children and his wife Amber. After playing Survivor 4 times, Rob finally won the $1 Million. They show a clip of Rob’s parts on Survivor.

After a break, Rob talks about how nervous he was and knew that if he could build relationships, he wanted to show them how to do it and Jeff says that Rob’s alliance was cult-like because no one talked to other members of the other tribe and that he was always in control. Jeff asks Ashley if she was going to always stick to the alliance and Ashley says that she knew that Rob was going to play the idol and that is why she was always scared of the fact that she was going to go. Andrea says that Rob played a great game and that she looked at him like an older brother and all of them had a different relationships and she says that she learned that you always have to stay on top of things. Rob says that he wanted everyone to feel comfortable at camp and not feel like they were going to go home. Natalie says she knew that she didn’t need to do anything because she had a strong relationship with Rob and knew that she was going to the end.

After a break Jeff talks to Matt about his experience and he says that he spent 7 actual days in the game and the rest on Redemption Island. He says that it was a great experience because all his friends have told him that he likes to be alone so it was peaceful. He says that he got closer to his God and it was great. Jeff asks about his relationship that was hinted on Survivor with Andrea and they blush and avoid the topic. Jeff talks to Mike and he says that he too had fun on the game because it taught him a little bit more about himself and the fact that he can be closer to his God and built friendships.

After a break, Jeff talks to Russell and asks how his experience on Survivor. He brings up the bet that Russell and Rob made back in Heroes Versus Villains of Survivor and Russell shakes Rob's hand and says congratulations. He says that he felt robbed from the game because his tribe threw a challenge to get rid of him right away. Jeff talks to Phillip and the fact that he has always told that he is a former Federal Agent. Jeff asks if Philip one more time and he says that he worked for the Defense Investigative Services and the Naval Investigative Services. He says that he has someone in the audience. It is Federal Agent Diane Hardy, someone from Philip’s past. She says that they were in the training academy together and that she doesn't know where he went, but he was a Federal Agent.

After a break, they reveal the "Sprint Player of the Season" results and it is between Rob and Matt. The winner of the $100,000 goes to Rob Mariano. Jeff says that another love affair in Survivor has happened and David says that he has been dating Carolina Eastwood from a past Survivor season for a while. Jeff asks how serious it is and David says that it is pretty serious. Jeff says that they should make it official and so they do. He proposes to her. She says yes of course.

They end the reunion show by showing a sneak peak of Season 23 in South Pacific. Two returning players from past Survivors are coming back into the game including bringing back Redemption Island to throw off the game a little bit.
