Tarzan (1966)

Ron Ely starred in the title role as Edgar Rice Burroughs' ape man in this adventure drama which aired on NBC for two seasons from 1966 to 1968. Manuel Padilla, Jr. co-starred as Tarzan's boy sidekick, Jai. Despite high hopes for the series from the folks at NBC and praises from Burroughs' purists about Ely's portrayal of the Jungle Man, Tarzan got swamped in the ratings by The Wild, Wild West and was cancelled after only two seasons on the air. Ironically, reruns of the show aired on CBS, the network of Wild, Wild West during the summer of 1969.
