This is a reference to storyboarder Scooter Tidwell (note his first name is "Scooter"). Beast Boy uses "Van Wyk BBQ Sauce," a reference to Adam Van Wyk. | Robin's motorcycle helmet and cape are loosely based on Gatchaman. Gatchaman is best known to American audiences are Battle of The Planets, G-Force and Eagle Riders. |
