Born to Run - Recap

<-- Previous Episode
Sarah is in custody and being interrogated by Agent Auldridge. He knows about Miles Dyson and the explosion in the bank vault, as well as the incident at the Weaver estate. He wants Sarah's help to take John into custody safely, but Sarah insists John died in the bank.

John and Cameron are lying low at an out of the way motel. John wants to research shielded nuclear power sources like the one Cameron has, as he fears long exposures may cause cancer.

Mr. Murch is playing Dungeons and Dragons board game with John Henry when Catherine enters the laboratory. Catherine wants to know how long it will take to break down everything in the laboratory and move it. Murch hesitates saying he thinks it is a bad idea to do so. A recent maintenance repair with a simple wire resulted in subtle changes in John Henry. Murch thinks the entire complex is essentially John Henry, body and soul. Besides, the attack on John Henry was not a physical attack, but a cyber attack and they have solved that weakness.

Ellison joins Sarah in the interrogation room. He tells Sarah he has been busy convincing Auldridge that he (Ellison) was not working with Sarah. He ask Sarah to tell her story but she says the last time she tried that she ended up in a mental institution. As Ellison starts to leave, Sarah asks after Savannah. When told she is with her mother, Sarah insists Savannah is in mortal danger. As the camera pans away, we see that John Henry has tapped into the police security camera feed and he and Catherine have been watching the interrogation.

Sarah requests a priest, specifically Father Bonilla who she met when she and John were running from a malfunctioning Cameron. Sarah tells the priest she can explain what he saw in his church if he will do a favor for her.

Ellison returns to Zeira Corp. and discovers that Catherine and John Henry have been illegally watching Sarah's interrogation. Catherine is somewhat amused and declares now is not the time to pick and choose which laws to obey. She tells Ellison she wants to meet with John Connor and find out what he was doing at his house and what his connection is to John Henry. She also knows that Cameron is a Terminator.

The Terminator T-888 that was the water delivery guy goes to a gun store to buy silencers for his handguns. The owner refuses to sell them but gives him the name of someone who will.

John gets a phone call from Father Bonilla. Later Father Bonilla meets with Chola and gives her a message to take to John. As she leaves the church, Ellison sees her as he has been watching the church. Chola brings fake passports to John and Cameron and a message from Sarah. Sarah wants John to leave town and not try to rescue her.

After Chola leaves, Cameron looks out the window and detects Ellison. She retrieves him and sits him in a chair harshly. He reiterates his innocence in Sarah's arrest. He asks John to meet with Catherine but John is not interested. Assuming that would happen, Catherine has Ellison ask Catherine a single question, “Will you join us?”. Catherine assumes Cameron will now understand who Catherine really is and will convince John to meet with Catherine but Cameron pleads ignorance and asks Ellison to leave.

Auldridge visits Sarah in her cell, claiming to fully believe her story about cyborgs and time travel. When she refuses to take the bait he switches tactics and asks her if she know where Miles Dyson's son Danny is, for he has been missing for three months.

The T-888 having acquired silencers begins his assault on the police station in an attempt at Sarah Connor. He encounters Catherine however and she overcomes him quite easily. She brings his chip back to John Henry for analysis but he is doubtful any data can be recovered. Ellison enters the lab and tells them John refused and Cameron did not recognize the message.

In the motel, Cameron tells John that all Terminators were built to kill humans, even her, and even though her software has been modified, deep down the original function still lurks. She gives him a knife and show him where to cut through her skin to determine if she is malfunctioning.

Cameron calls Father Bonilla and instructs him to visit Sarah in prison to tell her she is coming. Cameron makes her assault and is careful not to permanently harm any of the guards. John Henry watches from his laboratory and starts helping her by overriding the cell door locks of other prisoners to create mass confusion. Sarah and Cameron escape outside where John picks them up. Sarah tells them she wants to meet Catherine Weaver and she wants Cameron to destroy whatever is in the basement, meaning John Henry.

At Zeira Corp. Sarah and John meet Ellison in the lobby and he takes them to Catherine. Cameron heads downstairs to find John Henry. As Catherine is explaining she knows about Skynet and that Cameron is a cyborg, Skynet attacks with one of their drones, crashing it into Catherine's office. Catherine morphs into a metal shield protecting Sarah, John and Ellison from the explosion.

Sarah wants to escape the building, fearing for John. Catherine tells her John is not the target, but John Henry. She also tells Sarah John Connor will need John Henry's help if he is to save the world.

When they reach the basement laboratory, they find Cameron deactivated with her chip missing. Sarah accuses Catherine of creating Skynet but Catherine says she has been building a countermeasure to fight Skynet. John Henry has escaped into the future which is where Catherine says they must go. Ellison refuses to join Catherine but John wants to retrieve Cameron's chip. Catherine initiates the time travel device and it envelops her, John and Cameron, but Sarah steps out saying she will continue the fight against Skynet there.

John and Catherine arrive in the future without Cameron as her body did not transport. They find themselves in an underground bunker that has received heavy damage. Patrols with dogs arrive and stop John as he realizes Catherine has slipped away. The squad leader turns out to be Derek Reese. John introduces himself but in this reality, no one has heard of John Connor. Just then, John's father Kyle Reese appears and stares at John intently. Also appearing is Allison Young, very much human and the image that Cameron was made to look like. The episode and series ends.
