Sarah's Story

Sarah is working in the garage when John and Riley pass by. Riley is wearing the new bicycle helmet that John bought her and is preparing to head home. She thanks Sarah for inviting her for dinner and Sarah smile wanly. After she leaves, Sarah tries once again to convince John that his friendship with Riley is putting the girl in danger, but he refuses to listen. Cameron stops by and says she will talk with him. Sarah says he isn't listening but Cameron insists he always listens.

The next morning, Sarah is still at work building a safe for their valuables and installing it in the floor of the house when Cameron stops by. She says she spoke to John the night before and he is going to stop seeing Cameron but Sarah is doubtful. Cameron leaves to acquire more ammunition as their supply is getting low. After she leaves, Cromartie suddenly appears and drags Sarah upstairs to John's room, but he is gone. Cromartie squeezes Sarah's throat until she passes out.

Cameron's Story

John is saying goodbye to Riley after dinner as she prepares to ride her bicycle home. This is a replay of the same event seen earlier but this time from Cameron's perspective as she watches the two from the porch. After speaking with Sarah, Cameron heads back to the house to talk to John, first removing her jacket to increase her sexy appearance. She lies down next to him on his bed and talks to him about the danger he is creating for Riley. She also speaks to him about his loneliness, telling him that they have spoken about it in the future, implying they may have a more intimate relationship in the future. He feels uncomfortable and she leaves.

The next day Cameron speaks with Sarah and then leaves to get ammunition. When she arrives at their private storage site, she finds the padlock is open and she enters with her gun drawn to find Derek already there. Derek is angry with her for taking inventory from the weapons cache that he setup and she tells him that she do under John's orders. Derek complains that John needs to get his head in the game and Cameron responds that maybe if Derek were around more, John would be able to talk with him. Derek's phone rings and he steps outside to answer it, but not before Cameron notices a non-US number appear on the screen. When she asks who the caller is, he ignores her so she pulls out her own phone and types a few numbers that lets her listen into his call. The voice is speaking Spanish and Derek then sticks his head back in and says that John is in trouble.

John's Story

The story replays from John's perspective at the point where Cameron is on his bed hinting at their future intimacy. After Cameron leaves, John gets dressed, calls someone and leaves the house.

The next morning finds John and Riley aboard a passenger bus headed to a small town in Mexico where John lived as a kid. Riley wants to know if John told Sarah about their trip and whether John is just getting back at his mother for something. They arrive in the town and see lots of people dressed up with skulls for faces. Riley comments on it and John says it is the festival called “Día de los Muertos”, or “Day of the Dead”.

Later they are talking in the Honeymoon suite that John reserved. Riley wants to know why he and Sarah lived in Mexico and John pauses before answering. Riley accuses him of thinking of a lie to tell but he says he just wants to enjoy their time together and not think about his childhood.

They go to dinner and John asks Riley how she knew he was thinking of a lie, wanting to know what his “tell” was when a photographer takes their picture and tries to sell it to them. John is very nervous and offers to pay the photographer to delete the photo from his camera when the photographer remembers him and calls him by his real name. John pulls the man aside and the photographer tries to extort John for everything he has with him when Riley appears out of nowhere and grabs the camera and tries to delete the photos. A ruckus ensues and Riley is caught by a policeman having dinner at the cantina.

At the police station, John tells his story to the police chief and the chief agrees to let him go with a warning if his parents come to pick him up. John first calls Derek and enters a code when he hears the recording. The chief then asks him to call Sarah and when he does, she answers immediately. He types his code but she ignores it, and John realizes something is wrong. John tells the chief no one was home so the chief tells his deputy to lock him up for now and let John try again in a few hours. He also tells the deputy to run John's name through Interpol.

A few hours later, John and Riley are locked in a cell together when she calls out to a guard. She begs him for help and protection from John and asks if she can just call home. When he agrees and starts to unlock the cell door. John springs forward and grabs the man and smashes him into unconsciousness. As John is handcuffing the guard to their cell, they hear gunshots. John tells a nearly hysterical Riley that she just needs to run when she sees daylight and not to wait for him.

Sarah's Story

Sarah is bound and secured in the back of Cromartie's car as he drives south towards Mexico. She notices a paper file with a mugshot of Cameron and Cromartie comments that Cameron is making mistakes and wonders if her chip is damaged. Sarah asks how he found their house and he tells her the boy from the bowling alley told him. Sarah manages to fling herself out of the convertible car but Cromartie stops and puts her in the trunk instead. Sarah finds a soda can and uses it to cut the duct tape binding her hands. The car stops and she hears gunshots and people screaming in Spanish. The car takes off again and she is flung around the inside of the trunk when suddenly the car stops again. The trunk is opened and James Ellison and John appear.

Ellison's Story

Ellison is out running when he receives a phone call from agent Crossman. Crossman tells him John Connor's name just appeared through Interpol. Crossman e-mails him a copy of John's Mexican mug shot and Ellison agrees it looks something like John Connor, even though Connor is dead.

Ellison arrives at the Mexican police station and passes himself off as an FBI agent using his old FBI badge. The police chief is familiar with the Connor case but says Ellison's fugitive would be 24 years old now, and the boy in custody is much younger. Ellison asks for a visual confirmation to ease his mind and the chief thinks he has come a long way for peace of mind. Ellison tells the chief he thinks the boy is in imminent danger when a deputy interrupts. The chief leaves and over Ellison's shoulder we see Cromartie through the chief's dirty office window. Ellison turns his head to see Cromartie pull a gun and kill the chief and his deputies. As Ellison crawls out of the chief's office he sees Riley and John running by. Ellison tackles John and tells him he is there to help. They all run outside and climb into Cromartie's car and escape with Cromartie chasing and firing at them. Riley hears a pounding coming from the trunk and Ellison stops the car and opens the trunk to find Sarah inside. They see a police vehicle coming and escape on foot.

They regroup in an abandoned house and Sarah starts questioning Ellison about his motives for being there. He tells her he was there to get John released, that he owed her a favor for saving him from the fire at Silberman's cabin. John tells Riley that she needs to leave, that she will be safe if she gets away from him and promises to tell her the story when they all get back home. Riley is afraid to leave alone and Sarah gives John some money and tells him to get her safe. Sarah borrows Ellison's phone and he correctly guesses she is calling for Cameron as her secret weapon. When Derek answers, he tells her they are already in Mexico, at what is left of the police station.

Derek's Story

Derek is surveying the aftermath of Cromartie's shooting spree with troubled eyes. Cameron correctly surmises that Cromartie is behind the destruction and walks into the police station, desperate to find John. They find lots of dead and wounded police officers but no John. Derek's phone rings and Sarah tells him John is with her. Derek wonders where Cromartie is.

Cromartie's Story

The scene where Cromartie arrives at the Mexican police station is replayed from Cromartie's perspective. He keeps asking for John and killing anyone that shoots at him. He walks outside to see John, Riley and Ellison escaping in his car. He fires at them to no avail. As he wanders around town looking for John he sees Ellison getting something from the trunk of his car. He follows Ellison back to a church where he finds Ellison praying at the altar. Cromartie walks up behind Ellison and asks for John when Derek shoots Cromartie in the head from an open window. Cromartie is not harmed and starts shooting back when Sarah starts shooting from a second window. Cromartie fires back at both simultaneously until suddenly Cameron is behind him and starts shooting him with a shotgun. The damage is severe and Cromartie shuts down.

The group buries Cromartie in a grave outside the town. Sarah tells Ellison they will come back later and properly destroy the Terminator. Ellison wants to know what happens after that, what his role is. Sarah tells him there is nothing more, that protecting John is all she does and he already knows that.

Sarah retrieves Cromartie's chip from Cameron and starts destroying it manually, becoming hysterical. John hugs her as Cameron looks on and Ellison walks away.
