Even though Eric went to Africa to teach, Red and Kitty still have a houseful of Eric's friends. Kitty decides to make a tape for Eric to tell him what has been going on since he has been gone. Also, Hyde comes home from Las Vegas with a surprise!

-New opening credits are now featured for this season, for the first time since season 5. However, instead of the gang all in the station wagon, they now show all the cast memebers one by one mouthing the words of the theme song with the exception of Red (Kurtwood Smtih).
-We learn that over the Summer, Charlie ends up falling off the water tower, and dies.
-Although this episode (and a few others) features Asthon Kutcher as Kelso, he is not in the opening credits anymore as a fulltime character, and is credited in the end credits as a guest star.
-All the episode titles this season, are songs by Queen.
-We also learn something different. When Red is being recorded for the tape for Eric, he said that some of his action figures were lost in the great dumpster war of 1979. Now if we think about this logically, Eric left before the Summer of 1979, the way the cast is talking, the show's current season takes place in the fall of 1979, which means that there only should be four months of '70s left.
-Tommy Chong is now in the opening credits again, for the first time since the end of season 4.
-At the end of the credits, when they show the license plate (where they usually show the years '76, '77, '78, '79) are now completly taken off. They still show the license plate, but the year next to it is now taken off.
-First appearance of Hyde's wife Samantha.
