Episode Summary |
| |
Everyone on Earth is excited about a comet passing by, but as soon as its trajectory changes to a collision course, everyone starts to panic. The comet turns out to be a giant ball of light that, after exploding, leaves behind 4400 people. They are missing persons who have been gone from a few months to 60 years, and none have aged a day. The 4400 are put in quarantine and eventually released. Some of the returnees begin to exhibit strange and uncontrollable new abilities. Tom Baldwin and Diana Skouris, two Homeland Security agents, are appointed to find out what happened to the 4400. | | There are no foreign summaries for this episode: Contribute | | English Recap Available: View Here |

Episode Notes |
| |
The Pilot was intended to be a two-part episode, but USA saw it and loved it so much that they decided to air it as a two hour movie instead. | The Pilot was shot in Vancouver B.C. from March till June 16. The weather in March was very uncooperative and at the location where the 4400 return – Buntzen lake – they had a hard time shooting the scenes because there were torrential rain for days on end, wind and hail. | This Pilot became the highest-rated and most-watched new series premiere ever on basic cable with 7.4 million viewers (5.7 household rating). |

Episode Quotes |
| |
Sid: Sir, it just changed course and accelarated again.
Skouris: A comet cannot change course.
Ryland: This one has.
Skouris: Then it's not a comet. | (Orson and Maia are watching the news network argue about them)
Maia: She doesn't like us much.
Orson: ...The feeling's mutual. | Skouris: Well, good luck, Maia.
Maia: You'll see me again.
Skouris: Yeah, next week.
Maia: Sooner than that. | Richard: The Secretary of State is colored?
Shawn: Black. I'll take your word for it.
Richard: And the National Security Advisor, too. Lord, the world sure has changed, since we've been gone. You should try and relax son. You're not going to get out of here any quicker, by wearing a groove in the floor.
| Shawn: I just told you the truth! Is that what you've been thinking, this whole time? That I gave Kyle something that messed him up and then I just took off? Screw you Uncle Tommy! I just told you everything I know! | Richard: My friend, her name was Lily, too. Lily Bonham.
Lily: That's my grandmother's name.
Richard: Lily Bonham from St. Louis?
Lily: You knew my grandmother.
Richard: Is she still alive?
Lily: I'm sorry. She died before I was born.
| Shawn: They're just jealous that I get to enjoy two more years of high school. | Lily: You look lonely, standing there with that ID number.
Richard: I'm supposed to be eighty-two years old, there's no one waiting for me. |
