The Academy Awards: The 25th Annual Academy Awards

This year's awards were held both at the RKO Pantages Theatre in Hollywood, CA and at the NBC International Theatre in New York, NY. There was a mixed bag of winners this go round with no on specific movie taking home the bulk of the awards. Cecil B. DeMille's The Greatest Show on Earth won Best Motion Picture, John Ford won Best Director for his film The Quiet Man, and Gary Cooper won Best Actor for his role in the film High Noon. Bob Hope received yet another Honorary Award for his contributions to the entertainment industry - and for bringing to the laughter of the world and his devotion to the American premise.
