Episode Notes

This is the brief pilot script expanded as the premiere episode. The "train crash" scene was footage shot for the pilot presentation. This is the only episode using exterior footage of a real house. Wednesday's age is given as six and Pugsley's as eight. In next episode, however, they've somehow aged two years each to match the ages of the children playing the roles.

Episode Goofs

In the opening sequence, Mr. Hilliard walks up to the gate at the Addams residence and the door opens by itself. If you look carefully you can clearly see a string pulling the gate open.

Mr. Hilliard is attacked by Morticia's plant Cleopatra. Look carefully and you can see a string operating the plants movements.

Cultural References

Wednesday is upset after returning home from school. She states that they killed a dragon. When asked who killed the dragon, she answers Jack. Morticia then picks up her school book of Grimm's Fairy Tales. Later in this episode she complains to Mr. Hilliard about reading such stories as Hansel & Gretel to impressionable children. (Those naughty children pushed that nice old woman into a oven).
