The 11 teams, including a Pizza Hut manager, a dentist, a science teacher, a children's minister, a retired physician and a valet, will compete against one another in a race around the world for a $1 million prize.
The race begins in Denver, Colorado when teams quickly jet off to their first location, Sao Paulo, Brazil where, upon landing, they must venture deep into the heart of the city to find their next clue at the Hotel Unique. Almost immediately, teams make their way by foot to Viaduto Santa Ifigenia, a pedestrian footbridge overlooking the highway and the Vale do Anhangabuau. One team struggles to locate the clue box, while other teams seem to find it with ease.
At the bridge, teams are faced with their first detour and must choose between finding a local motorcycle shop, where they will have to assemble a motorcycle from scratch, or soar high above the city of San Paolo in a helicopter in order to locate a specific building where they will find their next clue.

Teams drive themselves to the Bavaria Film Studios in Munich, Germany and choose between two detour options. One option allows teams to relieve their frustrations and tensions from the stress of the Race by bashing bottles over each others' heads.

Teams are also faced with a roadblock that requires one team member to score a goal in the popular Italian sport of "Kayak Polo" while competing against a team of professional players.

Meanwhile, a lack of focus and confusion plagues several teams who get lost while driving, and their frustration fuels an emotional breakdown for one team.

Then, Teams encounter a true roadblock on the Race when they come across a flooded road allowing them a chance for a unique interaction with a kind local who comes to their rescue. Meanwhile, a lonely duo entertains themselves by invoking the ghosts of previously eliminated teams, doing hilarious impersonations of each to help pass the time.

Teams travel to Australia and must ride a bicycle built for two in order to receive their next clue. However, what should have been a fun three-mile bike ride turns into a heated argument for one team. Meanwhile, on the drive to the airport, another team picks up a hitchhiker and takes some time to conduct international relations.

The Racers also perform an intense Roadblock which requires one teammate to perform a tandem skydive with a trained professional. This entire leg is full of foot races which culminate with a three-way sprint to the Pit Stop. Meanwhile, Teams continue to play head games with each other and one Duo takes the scheming a step further when they cancel all the cabs waiting for the remaining Teams.
While racing through Bangkok, Teams face a Roadblock where they must prepare a feast for hundreds of sacred monkeys.
In Thailand, teams make their way to an ancient temple where they find their next clue. Two Teams race for the Fast Forward and both are greeted with a gut-wrenching challenge aptly named "Insect Delight." Despite a teammate's encouragement, a physically demanding challenge proves to be too much for one Racer who breaks down.
As the Teams race through Japan, they quickly learn that little mistakes can cost big time when there are only three teams left and the finish line is within reach. The last two legs of the Race around the world prove both mentally and physically grueling and it is a tight contest until the very end.

The four-time Emmy Award-winning reality adventure series returns for its 10th season this fall, when Teams will travel over 40,000 miles in under 30 days, spanning four continents and 13 countries. Teams will travel to such exotic locations as Kuwait, Mongolia, Beijing, Madagascar and Hanoi, Vietnam.
The race begins in Seattle, Wash. when Teams begin jockeying for available flights to the first destination, Beijing, China. Once there, Teams are faced with their first Roadblock, which requires them to feast on a Chinese delicacy. As the racers continue to navigate their way through the busy streets of Beijing, they are faced with the game's first twist. Meanwhile, the racer's physical prowess is put to the test when they must climb a portion of the Great Wall of China.

The pressure starts to take its toll on several of the racers as precious time is lost when teams are forced to switch tasks mid-stream, while others struggle to finish a flaming roadblock. Meanwhile, alliances start to form between several of the teams who realize they might be considered the underdogs of the race.
With no money in their pockets, one team is left behind while the others head off to their next destination. Another team loses their lead when they make a crucial mistake and board the wrong bus. Teams discover they will not be given any additional money for this leg of the Race and must earn it instead. Finally, a route marker evokes strong emotions in the Racers as they reflect on the sorrowful memories of a past war.
The teams race through Vietnam and navigate their way around rocky islands and through rough waters. At a roadblock, teams must ascend and rappel a cliff that's 90 feet high. One racer injures a leg and has to stop for medical attention.
Tension escalates as one racer's slower pace causes their team to miss a bus. One racer tries to align with another team, offering to lead them to a travel agency where they may obtain help racing to the next destination. The racer simply asks that team to remember the favor down the line. Trying to be practical jokers, one team pretends to make flight reservations on a fake cell phone while another racer gets nervous and borrows a local's cell phone to make actual reservations, causing the jokers' plan to backfire.
With no elimination on the previous leg, all teams move forward racing to the next Pit Stop. However, in a new twist, the team that finished last learns they must finish first on this leg of the Race in order to avoid a penalty that could cost them the game. The stakes continue to grow and teams realize that the smallest mistakes could cost them the Game.
While racing through the streets of Mauritius, one team has a major scare when they crash their car into a bus. Another team has trouble getting their car into gear and must watch as all the other teams pass by them. Meanwhile, two teams create an alliance but wonder if the bond is strong enough to bring them to the end. Could the race to the Pit Stop among friends mean the demise of another alliance?
One team starts the leg with a huge handicap and will need to pull out all the stops in order to stay in the game. The racers also struggle to complete an unappetizing task of consuming a local delicacy. Every second counts as several teams run neck-and-neck in a race to the mat.
The teams race through Helsinki, where they must dive 243 feet to retrieve a clue. At the Roadblock, teams are forced into a claustrophobic setting in order to complete the task.
Teams are feeling the pressure to perform their best as there is little room for error at this stage of the Race. At the Virtual Pitstop, all Teams must repel face-first down a 236 foot high tower. One Team is put to the ultimate test as they face their extreme fear of heights in order to complete the challenge and continue Racing. Two teams race head-to-head the entire leg of the Race and form an uneasy partnership. Frustration continues to mount as one Team's bad luck with automobiles continues.
The teams race through Morocco and one team yields a rival pair, forcing them to wait until an hourglass runs out before they can participate in a chariot race to earn their next clue. Also, one team gets a flat tire and doesn't receive any help from the other duos
The teams leave their Pit Stop known as Berber Camp and receive a clue to travel through the Atlas Mountains to Casablanca. At the Roadblock, each member must consume a pound of camel meat. Once completed the players are told to head to Barcelona, Spain where they will enter a confusing labyrinth to find the next clue. The Detour finds the teams either dressing as giants or passing through a tomato patch while having tomatoes thrown at them. The teams will end up at the final Pit Stop at Palau National of Mojuic.
The final three teams travel from Spain to France, skydive from 12,000 feet and fly to the final destination city where one duo claims the grand prize of $1 million.
The contestants leave Miami for Quito, Ecuador. The morning after they arrive, they head to Cotopaxi National Park and face a Detour. The racers can choose either Wrangle It, in which they must help lasso a wild horse and groom it, or Recover It, in which they must search a field for three items that are missing from a historical uniform. The first team to arrive has time on its side, but the chosen task is more difficult than it initially seemed. Meanwhile, some of the other teams have problems of their own as they struggle to find the national park.
Teams leave Ecuador and fly to Santiago, Chile. Two teams snag an earlier flight, but they don't get the advantage they hoped to gain. Upon arrival in Santiago, the racers head to a copper-mining company for their next clue, a Roadblock. Each participant must search the board room for letters of the alphabet and unscramble them. Teams then fly to the city of Calama where they face a Detour. They can choose either By Hand, in which they must secure a tire to a truck, or By Machine, in which they must transfer gravel using a front loader. After completion, the racers drive to the Valley of the Dead to find the Pit Stop.
The racers must leave the city of Calama and fly to Puerto Montt, Chile. The animosity toward Rob and Amber continues to grow, but they are not the only source of frustration. The desire to get on an earlier fight sparks many arguments in the airport. When the teams land, there is a Roadblock waiting for them. They must remove fish from a tank in order to receive their next clue. After completion, the racers find a Detour. They can choose between Vertical Limit, in which they must perform a forty-foot rock climb, and River Wild, in which they must take a boat through a white water rafting course. One team makes a huge mistake that might cost them the race. Finally, it's off to the pit stop at Playa Petrohué.
Teams now fly to the city of Punta Arenas, Chile. Once they find the shipwreck, they will discover their next clue. In this Detour, teams can choose between Navigate it, in which they must use a map of Punta Arenas to ultimately find the Nautilus building, and Sign It, in which they must use a map of Magellan's voyage to build a traditional local sign post. Problems early on may tarnish Rob and Amber's pristine record. After completion, contestants fly to Ushuaia, Argentina where a Roadblock is waiting for them. In this task, each chosen member must look through numerous envelopes and find a letter addressed to their team. Once the letter is read completely, they receive their final destination.
Teams head to Maputo, Mozambique where they must drive, via taxi, to the base of Martial Mountain chain. There, they must ride the chair lift and hike to Martial Glacier. On the Glacier, they will have to use an avalance beacon to find their next clue. At the Roadblock, one team member must use a rat to find a marker near a deactivated mine. In the end, one team may be eliminated.
Teams travel to Marhsall Mountain where they must hike to find their next clue. The clue leads them to Naputo, Mozambique where they must use trained rats to complete their Roadblock.
Teams leave Zanzibar and fly to Warsaw, Poland. In Warsaw, the teams must complete a Detour, Skill or Might, and receive a clue leading them to the Jan III Sobieski Lozenki statue. In the end, one team may be eliminated.
In the 11th season finale, teams leave the Jan III Sobieski Lozenki statue in Warsaw and travel to the Auschwitz concentration camp in Birkenau. Each team member must light a candle in remembrance of the Holocaust victims. From there, teams must pair up with another team in the Fast Forward. From there, they race to the final pit stop.
The teams leave the Pit Stop at the Pieskowa Ska?a castle in Krakow, Poland for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. On their arrival they will head off to Batu Caves. Frustrations build over the Detour task, leaving a pair of teams to switch tasks. Upon completion they will head to a newspaper in Taman Sri Hartamas. The locals must assist the teams on a stressful and tiring Roadblock. One team falls far behind after missing a flight connection to the final Pit Stop.
From the Pit Stop at the "Mansion on the Hill" in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia the teams receive the next clue instructing them to fly to Hong Kong. While in Hong Kong the teams will travel to a laundry. The first place team finds themselves strapped for cash. Meanwhile, the teams must complete a demanding climbing assignment and one team will take the wrong ferry. After kicking down some doors at the Roadblock, the teams head to the final Pit Stop at the Hong Kong Jockey Club.
From the Pit Stop at the Hong Kong Jockey Club the teams travel forty miles away to Macau, aboard turbojet ferries. Upon the arrival at the Macau Tower, one team makes a plan to raise funds to help ease their financial troubles. The Roadblock consists of the highest ever jump in the shows history. Once this task is completed the contestants will board a taxi to Lou Lim Ioc Garden. There they will be tested on their ability to pay attention to details or use their navigational skills. The teams must drive a mini-moke to the final Pit Stop.
Teams will take off from Triho de Taipa Pequena 2000 and head to Anderson Air Force base near the island of Guam. At the base, each team will enter the control tower where they will receive their clue of a detour. They can choose between cleaning or dare to participate in some high flying. The Roadblock task finds the teams testing their search and rescue skills. The final elimination before the finals will take place at final Pit Stop at Fort Soledad.
The final three contestants are set to battle over the $1,000,000 grand prize. From their pit stop in Guam, the players are instructed to fly to Honolulu, Hawaii, where they will be testing their skills both on land and on the sea. A final flight to San Francisco's Botanical Gardens will be the site of the final destination.
The 12th season starts at the Playboy Mansion in Beverly Hills where 11 teams begin their journey around the world to win the $1 million grand prize. The pairs then jet off to Ireland where they must ride a high-wire bike that is 200 ft. above the North Atlantic. The first team is eliminated at the pit stop.
Challenges include pole vaulting in the Netherlands.
