Recap

The boys in Mayberry look forward to a foot race and register at the courthouse. Opie enters his application and Barney gives him some physical training in several funny scenes. Opie is quite excited and dreams of winning countless medals. On the day of the the race, Opie finishes last and returns home in a very unsportsmanlike frame of mind. Andy tells him he is very disappointed in his attitude. Opie becomes anxious when he realizes he has lost his father's respect. He tells his father he doesn't want to disappoint him and will change his attitude about winning and losing. Father and son are reconciled and Opie makes plans to try harder the coming year...
