Week 3 (S15) - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
The show opened with Ashley S. being chosen, via date card, to go on a one on one date with the Bachelor, Brad Womack. He whisked Ashley away via limousine to the famed Capitol Records studio where together they sang a song entitled, "A Kiss from a Rose", which just so happened to be Ashley's father's favorite song. Ashley's father is deceased and when Ashley heard it, it brought tears to her eyes. She mentioned to Brad that it had been her dad's favorite tune and just how much it meant to her, even though she cried each time she heard it on the radio or elsewhere. Brad apologized profusely, saying that he had had no idea it would make her cry, but she said to go ahead with the record, don't mind her. Wiping her tears away, Ashley and Brad tried again to sing the song, but didn't sound professional. Nevertheless, they seemed to have a good time and went next door to another studio where they listened to a professional singer sing the song. Brad and Ashley S. seemed to greatly enjoy that and when they retired to the Capitol's roof to have dinner under the stars, the two cuddled, kissed and Brad handed her another rose, which seemed to make her very happy.

Meanwhile, back at the mansion, the doorbell rang. When the date card was retrieved, it said that love hurts and it was an invite for a group date. The girls were very excited and cast about in their minds as to what the caption on the date card might mean. The next day, they found out when the limousine took them to a film studio where they were instructed in doing stunts and told that they were going to each have a part in an action/stunt film. They took to that like a duck takes to water. Brad took on stunt man after stunt man, coming up the victor after each fight. The girls were very impressed with the way he handled himself and most resolved to do their very best when their turn came. Each girl fought well and after watching Brad handle explosions, fights, stunts, etc., the group retired to an outside set and relaxed where Brad told the women he was very proud of each and every one of them. They all clapped and cheered and traveled back to the mansion where they enjoyed a delicious lunch.

That night on a skyscraper's rooftop in downtown night clad Los Angeles, a hearty rap party was held for the women. They enjoyed swimming in a large pool after a sumptuous dinner and then spent some time, one on one, just chatting and relaxing with Brad seated on a deep, soft couch surrounded by drifts of pillows and covered with a blanket. A few of the girls were grousing about not getting enough Brad time in, but over all it was a relaxing evening.

A date card came for Emily, who was very happy when it carried the caption: Love is intoxicating. She thought of what that might mean, but couldn't come up with anything conclusive, but she seemed anxious for the next day to arrive.

Brad and Emily seemed to hit it off right away, taking time to just relax and get to know one another, this time Emily telling him about her deceased fiancee, the plane crash that took his life, her grief at hearing of his demise, her joy at finding that she was pregnant at the time with their daughter and how much she loved her daughter and the stresses of being a single parent and mother. Emily said that she was totally ready for marriage now, that she hoped to find a man who would accept her daughter and would want to have children with Emily. Brad said that he was very thankful that Emily felt open enough to share such personal details with him and that he felt a very strong connection with her, not only for sharing, but just because she was being herself, not playing a game with him like some women had done in the past. Brad handed Emily a red rose and said that he hoped that they could continue to get to know each other better as time went on and how much he had enjoyed tonight's date with her.

Brad's therapist met with him the next morning at Brad's house and gave him some sound advice: be open, be vulnerable, let the women open up to you, let them show you who they really are. Brad said that he would heed the therapist's advice.

At the girls' mansion that night, over cocktails and wine, the girls talked about their feelings about the group dates, how they felt about some of the other girls, etc Brad talked to host Chris before the rose ceremony, telling him that he felt the girls were very confident tonight to which Chris replied, saying that Brad should make these girls feel comfortable, to be sure to spend some one on one time that night with each of the women, if time allowed. Brad said that he would. When it came time for the rose ceremony near the end of the evening, Madison took Brad aside briefly, telling him how uncomfortable all the girls made her feel, that she just wanted to leave, now. Madison said that she was sorry she felt that way, but she felt it was best she leave the mansion and not come back. Brad seemed upset, tried to talk to her, but she just stood up, shook her head and left the house before the rose ceremony. A bit later, Brad handed roses to each girl excepting Kimberly and Sarah P., who left the house and went home.

Brad seemed very upset that Madison had not felt confident and comfortable enough to confide in him earlier, but that there was nothing he could have done to encourage her to stay. He decided to work harder on his present relationships with the girls remaining, trying harder to connect and encourage them to open up more.
