Week 4 (S15) - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Michelle woke up with a black eye and not knowing the cause, asked the other girls what they thought could be the cause, but they had no idea, either. Michelle complained that she did not want to start her day looking like a raccoon and asked help from her friends as how to best hide it with makeup. Once that was done, she could face the day, knowing that she looked her best. She definitely did not want Brad to see it and mentioned that she really did want a one on one date with the bachelor.

The host, Chris, announced that day that Chantal would be going on a one on one date with Brad that morning. The news met with happy smiles from Chantal. The date card's caption read: Love is deep. Chantal and the other women wondered just what that might mean, but nevertheless, all were intrigued, to say the least. The other girls told Chantal how lucky they thought she was and she had to agree. A helicopter came to take Brad and Chantal to Catalina Island where they landed at Descanso Beach Ocean Sports on the shore, then took a boat out to a spot on the sea where the two donned rubber suits and diving helmets. They slipped beneath the azure waves to frolic on the sea floor and watch sea life and fauna go by. Afterward, Chantal admitted to the camera that she had been terrified, just fearful, of deep water, but with Brad to hold her hand and give her constant reassurance and encouragement, she got through it with flying colors. She said that it was one of the most moving and exciting things ever to happen to her and she hoped that they could do it again sometime soon. Brad concurred with her. That night they retired to a large tent containing a soft comfortable couch and a massive bed hung with floating tapestries to get in out of the rain. They enjoyed a fine dinner over wine and later took the time to cuddle on the bed, out of the pouring rain, and talk about their lives, their hopes and dreams, and had a great time. Chantal accepted a red rose from Brad's fingers and gave him a sweet smile in return.

Back at the mansion that night, the girls listened to the pounding rain and wondered what Brad and Chantal were up to. It was hoped that they wouldn't be getting too cosy, that most of the girls left behind that night felt left out, that they were going to lose.

The next day, on a group date with the girls, Brad had them taken to a radio studio in down town Los Angeles where all of them sat in on a radio show called Loveline with Doctor Drew and Mike. Drew is a well known relationships expert and he told Brad and the girls that now was the time to be totally open and honest with one another, to take the time to get to know one another and not hold back. Brad listened to each of the girls as they, in turn, told Doctor Drew what they wanted from life, a little of their pasts, their hopes for the future and what they hoped to get from The Bachelor show. Brad said that he was blown away by their frankness and honesty, had never felt so close to women as he had now. He seemed truly impressed and when his turn came, he tried to be as honest as the women had. He also said that he had heard things that made him feel uneasy, but that was part of life.

At the mansion cocktail party that evening, round the hot tub, the girls sat in bikinis and had a gab fest, talking about Brad and that day's radio show. Brad tried to have some one on one time with each of the girls, but one or more felt left out and felt pressured to interrupt him during these sessions with their concerns and jealousies and inadequacies. A date card came that evening: it was for Michelle, who told the girls that things were going to change around here and to be prepared to pack their bags and leave because she was going to win Brad's heart.

The next morning, Brad drove from his nearby mansion and picked Michelle up in his sports car, taking her back to his house. A helicopter picked them up from there and flew them to a skyscraper in down town Los Angeles where they donned climbing gear and rappelled down the face of the building. Michelle was frozen in fear just before they leaped off the parapet but Brad talked her into letting go and having fun. They climbed down the building and landed at a pool at the foot of the building where they hugged and kissed, then Brad jumped into the pool fully clad while Michelle watched, laughing. She changed to a bathing suit and the two swam about happily til dinner was announced. They had a lovely dinner while talking about Michelle's daughter, Brielle, then Michelle accepted a red rose from Brad.

Back at the mansion that night, Brad took Emily aside and gave her a basket of cushions and a bottle of wine which they took out and used on the patio, exchanging small talk and how Brad just wanted to reconnect with Emily, that he had very special feelings for her. They were interrupted by a jealous Chantal who asked for some private time with the bachelor. Emily left and Brad and Chantal sat talking about Chantal's insecurities, etc. Chantal seemed reassured after the chat.

Later that night, at the red rose ceremony, three girls did not get a rose: Meghan, Stacey and Lindsay. None of the three seemed especially upset by not getting a rose. The remaining girls were left to wonder who would be asked to leave during the next session and what was to happen? Only time will tell.
