Week 5 (S15) - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Excitement and amazement were the order of the morning when a group date card arrived for the girls: they would fly to Las Vegas and discover what Brad and the day had in store for them. It was meant to be a surprise, so Brad did not tell them what was waiting for them there. They were given one hour to pack and get ready to go, so they scurried to pack a bag, dress and be ready for the limousine to whisk them to the airport. Once on the plane, they gazed from the windows, watching the sere scenery flow by. After landing in Las Vegas, the women were taken to The Aria Hotel where a happy Brad showed them to a very large suite and instructed them to settle in. The girls raced from room to room in their suite checking out the lovely view, oohing and aahing at the city below.

Chantal seemed especially pleased and excited when Brad handed her a date card that read: let tonight end with a bang! He whisked her away in the limousine to The Crystals shopping mall, one of the largest in the country, where he said that she had full rein to visit any shop in the mall and buy whatever she wanted. They walked from shop to shop where Brad watched Chantal try on dresses, shoes, check out purses (she came home with a purse worth $5000) and pick outfits for later. The trip ended with Brad and Chantal loaded down with shopping bags full of purchases which they took home to the suite and Chantal showed off her goodies to the envious and admiring girls. A couple of the women confessed to being jealous at all the attention being paid to Chantal.

Brad confessed to the camera that he noticed that tension was high amongst the girls tonightand he was not sure what he could do about it, but he had to be faithful to his mission in seeking a wife from the women.

The girls spent the day relaxing and taking in the views from the suite's large windows and ordering room service. That night, Brad continued the date with Chantal by taking her to the hotel's rooftop where they shared a sumptuous dinner over wine and watched the colorful, winking city lights. Chantal told Brad that she is a funeral director by trade and gave him some trade secrets about embalming, choosing the right coffin, etc., to which Brad said that he had never had a dinner conversation in quite this manner, but it was interesting and very informative. They seemed to hit it off just right and their evening ended by him handing Chantal a red rose which she accepted with a smile and a kiss. But Brad had one more surprise in store for his date of the evening: he stood, gestured and suddenly brilliant fireworks began bursting over the top of the building. Down in the suite, the girls heard and felt the vibrations of the fireworks and strained their necks watching them. One girl commented that the fireworks must be for Brad and Chantal.

At the suite a date card came: Let's go speed dating. It would consist of a two on one date for Ashley S. and Ashley H. The two women had become good friends since the group was formed and the date meant that the night would end with one of the girls going home, having been rejected by Brad. Sadness and happiness for the two girls.

The next day, the limousine took the girls to the group date: the Las Vegas Speedway where the girls would race real Nascar race cars. They all suited up, complete with helmets, and walked out to the indoor race track where each of them drove the track in a race car. Most of them seemed to have a very good time but Emily, whose deceased fiancee had been a race car driver, had in fact ended his career on that very track in a crash, was very sad and couldn't seem to stop crying. Brad took her aside and asked what was wrong. She told him about her fiancee and told him that not many people could handle her lifestyle, but not to be upset because she thought it was fitting that she was there. Brad was taken aback, not sure what to say or do, but he comforted her with a hug and walked her to her race car. She drove round the track a few times and climbed out. The group said that they had all had a great time and were driven back to the hotel. Brad confessed to the camera that he felt unsure of himself, rather inadequate when comparing himself to Emily's fiancee.

That night, at the two on one date, Brad told the two Ashleys that one would be leaving, that he was sorry, but that was the way it had to be. The date card read: Let's swing with the King. The King referred to was Elvis Presley and the Cirque de Soleil was creating a matinee just about him. The girls learned dance steps, etc. and the one Brad chose to remain would dance or swing in the air with him during the performance that night. After working out, the girls dressed for dinner and over wine that night, Brad gave Ashley H. a red rose. He walked Ashley S. to the waiting limo, kissed and hugged her and off she went toward home. The girl cried in the limo all the way.

Back at the girls' suite that evening, Brad took various girls aside and reassured them that he felt alot for them, reconnecting with Emily, Michelle, etc. Michelle seemed to want to immediately eliminate the competition but Brad told her he liked the other girls too. He had talked to his therapist Jamie earlier who reassured him that he was on the right track on concentrating on finding a wife amongst the girls. Jamie said that strength and vulnerability were good traits to have and to use, to let the girls get to know Brad.

Later that evening, at the rose ceremony, Marissa and Lisa went home.
