Week 1 (S16) - Recap
The season opens with a recap of the last season of the Bachelor and where Ben Flajnik was rejected by Ashley. At Sonoma, CA, Ben is a farmer of a vineyard and loves everything about it. He wants to be able to meet someone nice after the upset with Ashley. Ben gets to Los Angeles, CA. He says that he wants to find love and is looking forward to it. Chris Harrison is back and Ben Flajnik is back as well. Chris says that they are going to take a look at all some of the women’s profiles.
Lindzi C. (27), a Business Development Manager from Seattle WA. She says that she had her heart broken through a text. She says that she is ready for love.
Amber T. (29), a Critical Care Nurse from Waverly, NE. She says that she is outdoorsy and she says that she likes to eat “cow balls”.
Kacie B. (24), an Administrative Assistant from Clarksville, TN. She says that she loved watching Ben last year and is ready to find someone to take care of.
Courtney (28), a Model from Santa Monica, CA. She says that she is alright with competition. She says that she wants to be a bride.
Jamie (25), a Registered Nurse from Dryden, NY. She says that she has gone through a rough time in her life and says that she is excited and says that she and Ben would make cute babies.
Lyndsie J. (29), an Internet Entrepreneur from Scottsdale, AZ. She is originally from London and her father is a diplomat. She is looking for love.
Jenna (27), a Blogger from New York, NY. She says she has her own blog called “The Over Analyst”. She says that she doesn’t want to end up alone and that she is battling her feelings.
Shawn (28), a Financial Adviser from Phoenix, AZ. She has a son and is looking for someone to complete her family.
Nicki (26), a Dental Hygienist from Hurst, TX. She says that she and Ben could relate to each other because she was in a marriage and it ended too soon. She says that it is crazy that she could be engaged to Ben.
After a break, Ben gets ready to meet with the women. He says that he is ready and his future is open. Meanwhile, the girls get into the limos and get driven to the house. Chris welcomes Ben and asks how he is doing. He says that he is looking forward to this. They go in and talk and Chris asks what is like being back. Ben says that he is ready. They bring up last season and he says that his plan didn’t go according to what he wanted. He says that on “The Bachelorette”, he was different and says that he is back to find love again. Chris asks if he is ready to get on one knee again. He says that it would be a disappointment if he comes out without finding the one. Ben says that he feels that his father is with him spiritually. He says that he is ready to be the Bachelor. They go back outside as the limos roll up.
The girls step out and they are: Rachel (27), Erika (23), Amber B. (23), Elyse (24), Jenna (27). Jenna goes inside and tells the others inside that she screwed up. The next limo pulls up and the girls come out. Courtney (28), Emily (27), Samantha (26), Casey S. (26), Amber T. (29). Amber comes around and says that she wanted to come around again and make sure that he can be sure of love at first sight. The third limo comes up and the girls come out. Holly (34), Jamie (25), Shira (?) Blakely (34), last up is a woman with crutches. She is Sheryl (72). She says that she has her grand-daughter with her. Brittney (26) comes out and hugs Ben. Shiera says that she should have thought out that.
The last 10 girls come up and they are: Nicki (26), Dianna (30), Jennifer (28), Lyndsie J. (29), Anna (25), Monica (33), Jaclyn (27) Shawn (28). Kacie B. (24). Inside the girls are continuing to talk and they are wondering what is going to happen next. Lindzi C. (27) comes up on a horse. Lindzi comes in and tells her that she rode in on a horse. Jennifer is sizing people up and the other girls don’t like that Lindzi rode in on a horse.
Chris asks if Ben is going to be ready and says that he is going to have to give one rose to a girl for the Best First Impression. Ben goes in to meet the girls and says that he has been in their shoes and says that he is looking forward to getting to know all of them. Nicki says that she can see herself with him. Emily says that he is sexy. The girls get to know what type of background Ben is from. Ben sits down with Rachel and he asks how it is to be on the other side of things. He says that he is looking for love. She introduces herself and gives Ben some of her background. She says that she left her job for this and she says that she could really hit it off with Ben.
Ben sits down with Nicki and she says that they are going to get along great. Ben says that he likes her “bubbly” personality. She says that she has been through relationships that opened her up to everything. She says that she is glad that she is there with him. She says that Ben is everything she wants.
Ben sits down with Lindzi and they talk about the horse and how she rides horses for a living. She says that she tried to make wine with store bought grapes. She says that she loved to squash them with her feet. Inside, Brittney’s grandmother tells her that she has a lot of competition.
Sheryl and Brittney sit down with Ben and Sheryl tells Ben that her granddaughter is amazing and asks Ben to take her to the car. Brittney says that having her grandmother there was amazing. Ben comes back and sits next to Brittney. She says that her grandmother is great. She hopes to get the First Impression rose. Chris comes in and shows everyone the First Impression Rose. He says that he has a lot of beautiful women around him and says that it is going to tough.
The girls get stressed out about the rose and Shawn takes Ben outside and they play soccer. He goes back inside and mingles around the room and getting acquainted. Dianna tells Ben that she has a surprise for him. She says that she wants to blindfold him. She says that she is going to feed him candy and he is going to have to guess what they are. Emily takes Ben out and starts rapping for him. He is impressed with her rhythms.
Courtney sits down with Ben and they compliment each other’s hair and she says that she wouldn’t have been on the market. Jenna talks to Monica and asks her what she thinks of Ben. She says that she doesn’t care. Jenna gets upset with Monica’s lack of interest and says that she should go home. They continue and start to argue. Jenna goes into the kitchen and starts to get emotional about it. Monica talks to Blakely and gets a little “friendly” with her. The other girls see this and wonder if they are making out with one another. Rachel says that she thinks that Monica is interested in the girls more then she is with Ben.
Later, Jenna is freaking out and Monica and Blakely are holding hands and acting like the lesbian couple. Ben sits down with Jamie and she tells him that there is drama. Jenna talks to Rachel and says that she will not cry for Monica. Rachel goes up to Monica and asks what is going on. Monica says that she doesn’t know. They sit down together and they talk. Monica says that she doesn’t know her and that they are on the same terms. Jenna is rude and doesn’t accept her. Rachel tells Jenna that she needs to let it go and Monica tells the other girls that she will mess her up. Jenna cries and Ben comes up and asks why Jenna is crying and Jenna lies and says that she is not crying. Jenna asks how she feels and he says that he is calm. Ben says that he gets it and knows what she is going through.
Ben goes in to meet all the women and grabs the rose. He says that he will be right back. He goes up to Lindzi and asks if he can steal her away for a moment. He tells her that he is giving her the rose because of the comments that she made and says that is why she is going to get the First Impression Rose. Chris comes in and tells them that the First Rose Ceremony. Chris and Ben walk away and meanwhile, Jenna is still in the bathroom crying.
The women are lined up and Jenna is still in the bathroom. She finally shows up and says that she is going to fight through this. Chris reveals that Lindzi got the First Impression Rose. There are 17 roses that are going to be handed out. He says that he was hoping that love is possible. First rose goes to Jamie. Next rose goes to Rachel. Third rose goes to Blakeley. Next one goes to Emily. Fifth rose goes to Kacie B. Next rose goes to Casey S. The seventh rose goes to Brittney. The next rose goes to Erica. Ninth rose goes to Shawn. The next rose goes to Nicki. The eleventh rose goes to Jennifer. The next rose goes to Elyse. The thirteenth rose goes to Samantha. The next rose goes to Courtney. The fifteenth rose goes to Jaclyn. The next rose goes to Monica. The last rose goes to Jenna. Ben meets with the remaining women and he says that he is hoping that they are going to have a good time with him. For Amber T., Holly, Shira, Dianna, Lyndsie J., Anna, Lindzi C. and Amber B., it is the end of the road. The episode ends.
