Week 5 (S16) - Recap
With Ben telling Samantha that it is over early and the elimination of Monica, Lindzi C. (27) Jamie (25), Rachel (27), Blakeley (34), Emily (27), Casey S. (26), Kacie B. (24), Nicki (26), Jennifer (28), Elyse (24), and Courtney (28) are what remains of the girls that Ben has in mind to be with. The night begins in Vieques Island in Puerto Rico. Ben flies in on the plane as the girls arrive on boat. Emily says that she has been distracted by Courtney and hopes that they can grow deeper in their relationship. Courtney says that if Emily slips up, she will embarrass her so bad. Chris meets them that there are 2 one-on-one dates and 1 group date. However, he says that all of them are going to go on dates with Ben. They get the first one-on-one date card and it goes to Nicki. Courtney was hoping to be on the date because she doesn’t want to be around Emily.
Nicki can’t wait for her date with Ben and she says that she wants to see if that chemistry is there with Ben and her. She says that it would be sad if she didn’t get a rose tonight. Ben says that Nicki brings out a “kid” in him. They fly to their destination via helicopter. They arrive in Old San Juan. It starts pouring down rain on them. Ben has to change plans and Ben is turned on with Nicki’s ability to adjust. They get dry clothes by going over the top and get the most “authentic” look. They go sightseeing and Ben says that he feels comfortable with Nicki and they see a wedding. Nicki says that she would want to live with the person first before she dives into marriage again. Later that night, Nicki and Ben go to dinner and Ben says that he is loving his time with her. Ben asks Nicki about her marriage and she says that she wants her second chance at a fairy tale. She says that she loved being married, but they didn’t see eye to eye.
Back at the house, the girls talk and Elyse says that she deserves a date with Ben the most. They get the group date card and Lindzi, Courtney, Kacie B., Jennifer, Emily, Rachel, Casey S., Jamie and Blakeley. This leaves Elyse with getting the one-on-one and she is excited. Back on the date, Nicki says that she believes that people deserve a second chance. Ben says that she was young when she was married. Ben says that Nicki opened up and that is why she gets the First Rose. He says that he has a better understanding who she is and where she comes from. They kiss. Nicki says that Ben is a man who any woman would love to be with and she can be with him.
The next day, Ben arrives in San Juan and stands outside a baseball stadium as the girls arrive. They have the stadium all to themselves and he has the three coaches for the Gigantes. The coaches run them through drills and have fun. Chris calls them in and tells them that tonight is going to be a romantic beach party and only half of them are going to be going. They are going to have to play a baseball game against each other. The winning team will get to go on the beach. Courtney and Blakeley pick their players. The Red Team scores 5 runs in the first inning. However, the Blue Team get back with a bang they tie it up 6-6. The game gets intense and eventually, the Red Team wins. Blakeley isn’t happy about loosing and says that it sucks that they don’t get to go. Courtney loves that they won fair and square. However, the girls on the Blue Team are upset.
Courtney, Kacie B., Lindzi, Casey S., and Jamie go with Ben on the beach. Meanwhile, Blakeley, Jennifer, Rachel, and Emily ride back to the hotel and are very upset. Back on the beach, Lindzi goes off with Ben and tells him that she doesn’t mind being his MVP again and Courtney starts to size up the girls and says that Kacie B. is her only competition. At the hotel, the Blue Team gets in and tells Elyse and Nicki about the group date. Emily says that she hopes that Courtney doesn’t get the rose tonight. On the beach, Ben takes Kacie B. with him and tells her that she can always get him to open up and he loves that about her. He gives her the rose. Courtney takes Ben away after they get back and tells him that she would love to go skinny dipping with him. He laughs and says that would be interesting.
The next day, Elyse is feeling excited and nervous about it. Elyse gets her date card and says that she wants to get that connection with Ben. She says that she doesn’t want to loose out on the chance for a rose and says that she wants to be loved. Ben comes up and gets Elyse and points out a yacht that they are going to be on. She tells Ben that she wants to find love and says that she can’t believe that she is there with him. Ben says that they should jump off the boat into the water. She says that would be nice. They jump in and they love it. Elyse loves her time with Ben. Later, they go to a beach and have dinner. She says that she is excited to see where this goes. Elyse asks if Ben wants to know about him. He asks what she meant about her being done with her life. She says that she is done being single. Ben honest with Elyse and tells her that he can’t give her the rose. They walk on the beach and Elyse what she did wrong. Ben says that she is incredible, but it is a no to going further. Ben throws Elyse’s rose in the water.
At the house, the girls see Elyse’s bag getting taken away. They realize that it is getting serious. Courtney says that she is surprised. She says that another bites the dust. She gets up and says that she is going make good on her promise. She meets him at his door and says that he might need a Night Cap. He invites her into his room. They have wine and he sees that she is naked under the robe. He decides to go with Courtney to the beach and they both get naked and jump into the water. She feels that she is winning. Later, the girls realize how few they are and Jennifer says that anyone could go home tonight. Courtney says that she feels confident. Ben come up feeling bad and says that he wants to explore other relationships with the other girls. Ben and Jennifer sit down and Jennifer reminds him of their time together. She says that she loves the feeling that she has when she is around him. Blakeley is getting nervous and Kacie B. tells her to tell Ben what she wants to tell him. Blakeley sits down with Ben and tells him all the things that she likes about him and says that she wanted him to know that she deserves love and feels happy that she has gotten to the place. Ben loves her openness.
Rachel and Ben talk and Courtney talks about Skinny Dipping and Courtney says that she loves having this secret. Emily talks with Ben and tells him that she doesn’t want to talk about Courtney, but starts to talk about her. She tells him that Courtney is a different woman around them then she is around Ben. He tells her that she needs to drop the complaining and tells her to watch out for herself. The rose ceremony comes and Emily is nervous that she is going home. There are seven roses to give out. The First rose goes to Lindzi. The next rose goes to Jamie. The third one goes to Rachel. The next one goes to Courtney. The fifth rose goes to Casey S. The next one goes to Blakeley. The final rose goes to Emily. This leaves Jennifer to go home and leaving the competition. In the car, she is emotional. Ben says that he wants to be open with everyone and says that they are going to Panama City, Panama!
