Batgirl Begins (1) - Recap

Batman battles the evil Poison Ivy in a conservatory, using wrist-mounted cutting blades. However, she manages to get the upper hand and blow pheromones into his face. Poison Ivy has also taken Commissioner Gordon hostage. A purple-clad figure breaks in: Batgirl. She fights Poison Ivy's plant humanoids but ends up fighting Batman, who has been entranced by the pheromones.

A new villain, Temblor, breaks into a chemical plant and Commissioner Gordon activates the Batsignal. Batman arrives but Temblor holds him off long enough to escape. However, Batman has obtained Temblor's communicator and compares notes with Gordon. They're interrupted when his daughter Barbara Gordon calls to let him know she'll be late. In reality she's sneaking out with a friend, Pamela Isley, to wage a war of eco-terrorism against the CEO of Chlorogene. However, they caught by the police, and Commissioner Gordon is less then thrilled. Pamela is a bad influence with a criminal record.

At the Batcave, Batman intercepts a signal over Temblor's communicator, but is unable to identify his employer. It's actually Pamela, who has hired Temblor to attack companies that pollute the environment and destroy plants.

Batman goes after Temblor but the villain buries him under rubble and escapes. Pamela calls Barbara to ask her help with another break-in, but she has to refuse because she's having dinner with her father. Gordon mentions that Temblor has been attacking the same factories that Pamela went after when Barbara accompanied her. Meanwhile, Batman traces the communicator to Pamela. She gets tossed out from a factory and calls in Temblor. Barbara figures that Pamela is involved and goes to confront Pamela, but ends up meeting Temblor, who is angry that Pamela isn't paying him. He attacks Pamela and Barbara tries to distract him. In the fight Pamela ends up trapped under rubble as Batman arrives. While Batman manages to strip Temblor of his seismic gloves, a vat of plant mutagens falls on Pamela. The police arrive and arrest Temblor, and Pamela is taken to the hospital.
